I'm a 27 year old software engineer though I used to do particle physics. Seeing as the government and funding agency had made a total balls-up of the area I left the field to have a career. So far so good; my new job is great! Even if I don't probe the fabric of reality... Good luck to anyone who manages to stay doing PP in the UK! I hope you can overcome the massive hurdles in your way, which will only get worse. (Labour plans for science: you should try to sell stuff you discover! Tory plans: let's hope people start charitable donations. Yes, they are both serious. Ridiculous.)
