I received the wonderful gift of a MacBook this Christmas, from a dear friend I scarce knew about. I may edit far more frequently as we stumble into a new year and decade. Thanks, Doc. :O)

My name is Loran Davis and I am from the disturbingly beautiful island of Newfoundland, which is part of the Canadian province of Newfoundland and Labrador (Labrador has its own page on wikipedia, check it out!).

Wikipedia can be complex and confusing, but I guess that goes with the territory when you're doing something of this scope - the world itself is complicated - and I think it all helps to lend an objectivity to the encyclopedia. It prevents people from becoming caught up in things that obscure the overall context - something about being able to see the forest for the trees.

Probably my most embarrassing "contribution" to this project was when I was a baby user (well I'm not entirely with the program even yet!) and I tried to create an article on a website my brother had created which was unfortunately not notable enough for Wikipedia; that's obvious to me now.

This user couldn't finish a book if he tried, but he loves them. Nothing like walking into an old library and smelling that old paper scent wafting up from the carpet.
