[edit] Blackberry Tips
• Want to see your data and voice usage? Options->Status->Type B U Y R
• Test your blackberry to ensure its working properly Options>Status>Type "test" and the testing app will open.
• When entering appt in your Cal put the location in (), scroll up/down changes end time, shift+scroll up/down changes start time
• On your bbm, Show your Location/Time Zone. It helps your friends around the world. Location will only show country so don’t worry
• You can add people to bbm by the e-mail address on their blackberry. Not just by PINs.
• Change your convenience keys to an app of your choice. Options->Screen/Keyboard->Left/Right Convenience....
• Holding down the letter will capitalize it. Sometimes this is easier especially when typing with one hand.
• For Bold/Storm Users - Holding the Menu Key will bring up the Application Switcher.
• Having trouble with your e-mails? Log into BIS and resend your service books.
• System shortcuts- ALT+LGLG access Event Log; ALT+NMLL toggle signal display; ALT+Shift+H Help Me! Screen
• You can use the Menu key to select a Menu option. This is especially useful for Storm users.
• Cut - Shift+Del; Copy - Alt+Trackball: Paste - Shift+Trackball
• When entering in a web address in the browser, the Space Key will input a dot and Shift+Space will input a forward slash.
• You can adjust your accessibility options to see your home screen icons better. Options->Advanced->Accessibility
• Watch your File Free # the lower the # is the slower your bb will be. Reboot b4 it gets to zero http://twitpic.com/hebvl
• Getting e-mails on your bb that u really didn't need to read right away? Setup a filter through BIS 4 that e-mail acct.
• ALT+Left Shift is Num Lock, ALT+Right Shift is Caps Lock.
• 3rd party apps issues? ALT>Right Shift>DEL immediately press n hold the escape key until the phone comes back on 4 Safe Mode
• Blackberrys will recognize the numeric equivalent for letters. ie dial 800-DAN-CHOI n it'll call 800-326-2464.
• If you are getting an error message while backing up your bb, delete the browser cache on your bb n try again usually resolves the conflict.
• If u get a "User account is in INVALID mode" error message then all u need 2 do is login 2 BIS n re-enter your user name/password.
• Del by itself will delete the character before the cursor. Del+ALT will delete the character the cursor is on.
• If u schedule a calendar event, u can update other bb users' calendar by sending an e-mail invite to their bb e-mail.
• If u r in a no-service area, u should turn off your mobile network or your bb will keep searching 4 towers draining your battery.
• Need to verify a blackberry is unlocked? Options>Advanced>Sim Card and type MEPD. If Network is Disabled, its unlocked.
• Make sure u close apps if u don’t need it open. Escape key doesn’t always close an app. If app has Exit and Close, choose Exit
• Clear some memory by deleting Help, games/apps U don't use, clearing Event Log (ALT+LGLG), n backing up/deleting read messages.
• If you have "Enter to Send" enabled in your BBM and you want 2 type on the next line, press ALT+Enter
• Disable UR Dial From Home Screen and UR keyboard become shortcuts 4 UR core app IE A-Address Book, N-BBM
• Extend battery life by turning off connections when not in use like wifi and bluetooth.
• Did you know you can search 4 contacts by initials? ie. Looking 4 John Smith? Type "J" + Space key+ "S"
• sig+space will autotext your Owner's info/urid+space will autotext your Owner's name. Set your info @ Options->Owner
• Be efficient w/ your Autotext. Create autotext 4 your twitter friends ie when i type tdanny it replaces it w/ @dannychoi13
• Need to type a letter with an accent? Like übertwitter or résumé? Just hold the letter and scroll up/down w/ trackball or left/right w/ trackpad
