About me[edit]

I'm Edgar Pal, a Wikipedian since March 2009. I usually contribute to articles related to current events, the Chicago metropolitan area, and the social sciences (broadly defined). When I joined Wikipedia, I spent a lot of time doing research and overhauling articles, but I eventually became an inactive editor due to college coursework and other time commitments. Nowadays, I volunteer as a GAN reviewer because I want to help other editors improve our articles to GA standards.

I graduated from the College of the University of Chicago, majoring in economics and public policy studies. To fulfill part of my graduation requirements, I wrote a thesis about Wikipedia's participation in the protests against SOPA and PIPA, and the discussion that took place on WP:SOPA. You can read it here. Having graduated from school, I now work as an actuarial analyst and live in the suburbs of Chicago.

I invite you to listen to Wikipedia whenever you have a chance. It's a great reminder that we should welcome the hundreds of new contributors who join our community every day, and that even the tiniest contributions play a crucial role in our efforts to produce the best encyclopedia.

I'm always happy to help my fellow Wikipedians, so feel free to leave me a message on my talk page.
