About me: My real name is Ryan. I feel no need to hide my identity on Wikipedia as I believe it's a fruitless effort in the long run. (In any case, anyone who wanted to could click through to my blogs and find out anyway.) I'm a current college student, currently looking to go into either graphic design or journalism. In my free time I edit Wikipedia, fiddle around with my laptop in various ways, read books by Douglas Adams, or sleep. I typically help out here by patrolling new pages or recent changes, commenting in Xfd discussions, and otherwise performing behind-the-scenes or gnomish work. Occasionally, I'll help out by expanding an article but only if the subject really interests me.
About my user name: A while back, a few of my friends and I got into a discussion about how to annoy hipsters. I decided the best way to annoy hipsters is to make up a band, then pretend to be a fan. If the hipster asks who they are, you look at them disapprovingly and tell them how shallow and mainstream their music tastes are. Incidentally, the name of the super-obscure band I'm a huge fan of happens to be the Elektrik Shoos. (Since it combines a perfect combination of references to ordinary objects or concepts, and pretentious misspellings, which are key to the names of most modern indie bands.)
Prior to the current username I operated under User:The.ravenous.llama, but I changed the username back in May the hard way, because I didn't know how to do it the easy way.
About my socks: They're white with those grey bits on the heel and toes. Oh, the other ones. Right. I currently manage several legitimate sock accounts. The first four; Elektrikshoos, Elektrik Shoo sock, Electric Shoes, and RyKiefer; are doppelgänger accounts to help prevent impersonation. (You should never expect any edits to come from them, ever, other than to their user pages to post a related tag.) The third, User:Elektrik Shoos sock, is an account for when I make edits from public computers. If there is any concern against edits made by any of them please let me know on my talk page, not theirs, and feel free to block without warning if necessary.
For all your hard work on reverting vandalism, speedy deletion, etc. Great stuff! Winston365 (talk) 01:59, 18 July 2010 (UTC)
