Storm Chaser is an announced 301-foot-tall (92 m) tower swinger ride at Adventureland amusement park in Altoona, Iowa. The ride will be the Wind Seeker model manufactured by Mondial. The ride will replace Silly Silo and will be located in the Iowa Farm area of the park.[1]

History[edit]

On September 6th, 2013 it was announced on the park's Facebook page using a picture captioned, "the Storm Chaser - Coming in June 2014", a tower swinger ride will be build in the amusement park and will plan to open on June 2014.[2] The ride is similar to the WindSeeker ride at several Cedar Fair parks such as Canada's Wonderland, Cedar Point, Kings Dominion, Kings Island, Carowinds and Worlds of Fun where it will be named SteelHawk. Similarities includes; ride color, manufacturer and specifications.

Ride experience[edit]

Similar to the WindSeeker, riders sits in one of the 64 seats connected to the central support tower which raises the seats up and down, safety restraint bars are fixed over the rider lap, then a safety belt is connected to the restraint bar from the front of the seat. Once all restraints and all rider's safety procedures are checked, the ride will slowly rise to the top, the ride gradually spins from a slow pace to 30 mph (48 km/h) during the ascend to the top of the ride. Once the ride has reached the top, the ride rotates counter-clockwise at it's top speed of 30 mph (48 km/h) for a minute then the ride will slow it's rotation then starts descending down slowly, once the ride has reached the bottom, the ride will cease motion and rotation, where riders could safely exit the ride.
