[edit] Why did you revert my edit?!

I reverted your edit because it looks like vandalism. The program I use to do this very quickly (Igloo) probably left a warning for vandalism on your talkpage, which you should not remove; anything I did in Igloo will show '(GLOO)' as part of the edit summary and was probably a very fast decision. If you do not agree with me and my instincts, feel free to leave a message on my talkpage; if I have made an error, I will immediately roll back my reversion and remove the warning I left you. Did you remember to leave an edit summary?

[edit] No, I did not leave an edit summary

Most probably, you deleted a large chunk of text for no apparent reason, or removed a deletion tag or cleanup tag without explaining yourself. It could be a false positive. If you explain yourself and avoid marking these edits as minor, you will look less like a vandal. What I am trying to prevent is people who blank sections and pages, delete pertinent and referenced information, and try to save "their" articles from interference through cleanup or deletion.

If you removed a speedy deletion tag, you probably shouldn't have. With few exceptions, you should and must add the {{hangon}} tag below the speedy deletion tag and explain your case on the talkpage. That you just started the article grants no exemption from this process; there are people who follow the list of recently created articles and nominate them for speedy deletion as soon as they are seen, if necessary. Remember that you must not create your autobiography or spam about your website or company. If the page is about you or your employer, you probably have a conflict of interest and shouldn't touch it with a ten foot pole. In at least my view, it is generally wrong to accept payment to create or edit articles, as this creates a conflict of interest as well.

Check the changelog, too, to see what exactly it was I undid. If your edit included what looked like swearing, gibberish, some sort of remark, or other common vandal "tags", that probably explains it. Do not use a conversational style in article space! Sometimes it was just a typo on your part - correct the typo when you put the text back in. Such/suck is one common typo that will cause this type of problem.

[edit] About me

I am 21 years old and a student of computer science at the University of Lethbridge. My interests are fairly diverse; I celebrate the hacker ethic of obtaining all manner of random knowledge in the hopes that it will eventually be useful. For this reason it is fortunate I attend a liberal arts university. I am a web developer, systems administrator, and programmer, or a self-styled information technologist. In order to eat, I fix computers all day for Future Shop while being a casually exployed IMAC technician for IBM and doing some freelance IT work. For fun, I am a landlord, condo board member, and reserve artilleryman. When this too begins to feel like work, I play Dungeons and Dragons and make foam swords and chain maille, but do not LARP. Ever.

I am also a ham radio operator; my callsign is VE6FAL. Call me anytime.

My sleep schedule gravitates toward 0500 to 1300 whenever it can. For some reason, daylight annoys me, and night wakes me up. Alas. In consequence of this, I almost never get a good night's sleep, and I am sometimes known to take large jugs of pure espresso around with me in order to stay awake at school and work.

My name is actually Falcon Darkstar Momot, which is not to be confused with the other person who goes by the alias Falcon Darkstar (who cropped up recently and seems to write fan fiction) or falcondarkstar (whose name is on a livejournal I would not personally have ever written or thought). As my name and address are plastered all over the internet by virtue of the WHOIS registry, I see no point in trying to hide it. You can post me all the post you want.

[edit] My Editing Pattern

My editing pattern is such that it is relatively heavy when I have time, but extremely sparse during those periods in which I have none. This is due primarily to my habit of working throughout Alberta and parts of BC, doing homework, and working every hour of every day. When the army sends me to boot camp, as sometimes happens, you can be well assured I will have no edits for months at a time; it is also probable that someone with lots of hooks and a leaf or maybe even the dancing ponies have my computer.

Often, as has been seen in the past, I can reach several hundred edits a day during the peak period, which is obviously rarely sustainable. This is because the vast majority of my edits are syntactical or semantic, or are the result of patrols and discussion. Of late, I am mainly an RC patroller. One of my favourite things to do is RC patrol while listening to skate punk and eating lo mai gai; the vandalism is occasionally funny, despite being terribly misguided.

[edit] Dragon

Yes, it is a conspiracy (but certainly not on Wikipedia). Now leave me alone! Rawr.

[edit] Adminship

I am not currently requesting adminship. Anyone who wants me to is more than welcome to nominate me anytime (Squawk); I think I could do my work as an RC patroller more effectively with it. However, my self-nomination was defeated in 2004 and again in 2005.

[edit] My Contributions

I am an RC patroller and a copyeditor; these things make up the vast majority of my contributions to Wikipedia. However, I am perfectly able to clear up any factual issues or unclear passages in articles about computer science, especially with respect to computer security. If I find them, I take care of them.

If I see an act of vandalism, I will generally take a look at the editor's summary, registered or no. I do not believe that this is an action against the user in particular, as I do not treat those edits with any prejudice - I'm simply looking for other edits in the same bad faith. I am rarely disappointed. Actually, I am perpetually disappointed, because Wikipedia vandals destroy my faith in humanity. When I see them in real life, I usually hit them with a foam sword, if one is handy, and wish them a good time with the next octopus they happen by.

Grammar on Wikipedia is, in my view, extremely important. Whether it ought to or not, Wikipedia's credibility is evaluated in part on its grammatical integrity and polished look. When people write in AOL speak or as though they were tapping out a quick note to someone, and then commit that to an article, I wonder why they believe it fits in.
