A note about systemic bias on Wikipedia against youth.
| “ |
It's a Freechild special, and it's an advocacy article (a particularly noxious form of advocacy to my mind...) Freechild is nobody's fool and he's an energizer bunny when it comes to digging up enough refs for these things. He's done his homework and he's got us over a barrel. If his hobbyhorse was global warming denial or Scientology or whatever he'd have his head handed to him, but that's not going to happen given the subject and the Wikipedia demographic, so I'd say we have to let it go. - User:Herostratus from here |

American history is longer, larger, more various, more beautiful, and more terrible than anything anyone has ever said about it. - James Baldwin |

[edit] About me
I have been editing Wikipedia since 2004. I am a professional writer, educator, and public speaker focused on community engagement and youth empowerment. Volunteering with Wikipedia has stoked my avocation as a local historian focused on Omaha and Olympia. Here are some New Thought articles started by me.
[edit] Articles
I have written or started more than 600 articles. The primary topics I write about include history, youth, and education. I am particularly interested in Omaha, Nebraska; North Omaha, Nebraska; and youth voice.
I am affiliated with The Freechild Project (*) and in some cases this may be perceived as a Conflict of interest. As a longtime editor, I can assure you that it is not. Ask me if you have questions.
I started editing Wikipedia as an unregistered user in 2004, and registered "Freechild" the next year. For several years I focused my energies on article-writing, and as of 30 September 2008 I have created more than 512 articles; more than 100 of my articles have been featured on featured on the Wikipedia's front page Did You Know feature. On the list of users by pages created from November 5 2007, I was #698 with 322 articles. Today I focus mostly on maintaining and promoting quality editing, and on the list of Wikipedians by number of edits on August 25, 2010 I was #1195 with 27,356 edits. I have earned two DYK medals and three barnstars in acknowledgement of my service to Wikipedia.

I generally start articles with more than a stub, and sometimes I become entrenched until I can come back up for air (History of Omaha, Nebraska, List of dwellings of Pueblo peoples, Adultism, Adultcentrism).
