Hello, reader.
I'm a twenty-two year old student of Linguistics, living in the Netherlands. Wikipedia has been one of my primary sources of information for the last few years, though I created this account not too long ago (on the fifth of March 2006; yesterday evening on the time of writing).
It seems that nine times out of ten, when I disagree with someone, it's actually the validity of their argument that I disagree with and not actually the view they try to advocate or defend. People often get confused about that.
I've often started debates with people who were advocating exactly what I believed, but with twisted logic that made my skin crawl. I often find myself trying to get people to understand how my own opponents are not complete idiots, and often too being reprimanded by association for the weaknesses of the view I oppose for the very same reasons.
I consider this intellectual honesty. And it's tiring as heck.
(Edit as of 31-05-08: There used to be a few more pages here, but I edited that out because it was outdated and nobody was going to read it anyway.)
