Joint Task Force Guantanamo counter-terrorism analysts identified an al Qaeda guest house, in Kandahar, Afghanistan, as the Bayt al Arab.[1]

The Summary of Evidence memo prepared for Ala Abd Al Maqsut Muhammed Sagim Mazruh's Combatant Status Review Tribunal, on 7 January 2005 stated[2]:

  • The detainee worked for a Bayt al Ansar safehouse in Peshawar, Pakistan (PK).
  • Bayt al Ansar refers to safehouses used to organize volunteers for Jihad.
  • The Bayt al Anser guesthouse served as a staging area for Mujahadeen on their way in and out of Afghanistan (AF).

His Tribunal discounted the allegations against him, and determined that he had not been an enemy combatant after all.

The Summary of Evidence memo prepared for Nayif Abdallah Ibrahim Al Nukhaylan's Administrative Review Board stated that[1]:

  • Detainee stayed at the Bayt al Arab guest-house in Kandahar, Afghanistan.
  • The Bayt al Arab guest-house is maintained by Usama Bin Laden.

Other Kandahar guest houses associated with Osama bin Laden[edit]

Joint Task Force Guantanamo counter-terrorism analysts assert that Osama bin Laden personally owned the Nibras guest house in Kandahar.
