[edit] Gabriel Wicke
I am a software developer working for Wikimedia on a new parser. See mw:User:GWicke for technical content.
Back in 2003/2004, I donated about 1/2 year of full-time software development to the project, in which I developed the squid caching concept still in use today and implemented the initial integration with MediaWiki. I also created the MonoBook skin and did a lot of the work that went into MediaWiki 1.3. Shaping a part of the quick growth from a single server to 20 or so machines was exciting and a rewarding experience.
Since then I have provided MediaWiki consulting, customizations and hosting at http://wikidev.net. After graduating in 2011, I re-joined Wikimedia as a contractor to work on the visual editor / parser project. I am fond of the Haskell programming language, and sometimes program small things in it for fun.
