My name is Haukur. I am Icelandic, born in Reykjavík in 1980. I have a BS degree in electrical engineering, an MS degree in computer science and a BA degree in Icelandic studies and linguistics. I'm currently working towards a PhD in Icelandic studies, mostly focusing on what the late medieval rímur can tell us about the phonology of the language at the time. Since June 12, 2004, I am a husband and since June 6, 2009, I am a father.

I'm a sysop/administrator here on the English Wikipedia. That just means I have access to a few extra tools to help out a bit more. If it ever seems to you that I am abusing the admin tools then please tell me. If five established editors tell me that I have abused the admin tools I will resign my adminship regardless of my opinion of the merit of the claim. Lately, I've been most active in editing articles about sagas of Icelanders and other medieval Norse things. I've edited Wikipedia since 2003 and my views on how we should do things are sometimes a bit conservative. Still, I don't mourn over lost innocence - not all changes in the past 7 years have been for the better but the majority of them has been.
