Jake Marshall (born January 16 1998) is a English footballer who plays as a left back for Tottenham Hotspur and the England national team. Marshall has been a member of the Spurs first team since 2014, when he replaced the injured Danny Rose. He earned his first England cap in February 2015 against Spain nation team.

Early Life[edit]

Marshall was in born in St Georges Hospital in Tooting to a Polish mother and Dutch father. He studied at Rutlish High School between 2009 and 2014, he then attended Nescot College in Epsom. Marshall has lived in Mitcham, south London his whole life.

Early Career[edit]

In 2011, Marshall was offered a trial for local team Tooting & Mitcham FC, but suffered a severe leg break whilst playing football at school, which kept him out of action for up to 4 month,so he was unable to attend the trial.

When he recovered from his injury, he rejoined his school football team and played football at local parks, but couldn't get a trial for a club. He chose to focus more on Athletics, and would train every day at the local Athletics track.

Signing for Tottenham[edit]

In September 2013, Jake attended a Tottenham match at White Hart Lane, when Spurs hosted Norwich City. He was spotted outside the stadium before the game doing a skill challenge with a fellow Tottenham fan, and was asked to attend a trial.

Marshall started his 3 day trial at the clubs training ground on 15th September, he started off with the youth team, but on his second day, first team coach Tim Sherwood invited him to take part in a 3 vs 3 match with Nacer Chadli, Christian Eriksen, Jan Vertonghen, Danny Rose and Aaron Lennon.

Marshall passed his trial and signed a professional contract with the club on 23rd September 2013.

Tottenham Hotspur[edit]

Marshall made several appearances on the bench in cup games, but didn't come on. When first choice left back Danny Rose was ruled out for 6 months, Marshall took the chance and replaced Rose.

He started 14 times in the league and scored 3 goals.

On July 24th 2014, Marshall signed a new 5 year contract, where he will earn £20,000 a week.
