Joel Kirk born Joel Lindley, is formerly a Libral Arts major at the awesome-ness known as Ohlone College in Fremont, California (Sept 07'- to Dec 09'). He is currently an undergraduate student at UC Santa Cruz; pursuing a B.A. in American Studies (with a focus on Asian-American Studies) and a minor in Film; he plans to attain a Master's degree in Asian-American Studies, Sociology, Southeast Asian Studies, or Literary Studies. Graduate schools Joel is considering are: National University of Singapore, SFSU, and UCLA.
He has studied abroad in Singapore at the National University of Singapore(late July 2011 to early Dec 2011), taking general courses that range from Singapore Film to African-American Lit, or courses from the Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences.
Further long-term plans are to work in the film industry in Asia(possibly Singapore) as well as the U.S. as an actor/producer/writer/director; and delve into non-fiction and fiction writing. Projects will primarily focus on the relationships between blacks and Asians(foreign and domestic), Asian American representation as well as African American representation in the media, and the relationship between Asian Americans and Asians abroad.
