I am Sara Marks, an academic librarian in Massachusetts.
Currently I am working on a second masters degree at Fitchburg State University in Applied Communication. I am working on my thesis to graduate and my research is focusing on how Wikipedia editors resolve conflict using the three policies of : neutral point of view, verifiability and no original research.
[edit] Thesis Topic:
I have three research questions I am seeking to answer with my research:
- How is the process of editing a Wikipedia like a social drama?
- How do the core policies of neutral point of view, verifiability and no original research help resolve the social dramas of editing an entry?
- How do editors use these policies to develop and maintain entries?
[edit] How you can participate
I am looking for editors to take a survey and possible be interviewed. Any editor can take the survey, but for interviews I would like to speak with editors who have been part of edit wars or had to resolve problems with other editors. Mediation Committee and Cabal members, administrators and those who have edited controversial entries are encouraged to contact me if I have not already contacted you. Please spread the word about the survey (once I post a link, obviously) as the more editors who take the survey, the more accurate my research can be.
