Welcome to my userpage:

My first visit to the encyclopedia was in December 2003 though I only started contributing in November 2004, adding a sentence here or there. From 2006 to early 2008 I contributed on on a frequent level and helped expand and improve several high profile articles, eventually getting Bill Clinton and Winston Churchill to Good Article status. Since summer 2008 I now only edit occasionally, as I have intermittent access to the internet and more limited time than in years previous.

Biographical information

About me:

Me at my British Merchant Navy 'passing out' ceremony from cadet to officer, in Southampton, with Former First Sea Lord Admiral Baron West of Spithead.

I was born in Portsmouth, Hampshire in 86. I lived in the historic county of Dorset and for a while I studied Geography at University College London. In 2007 I graduated after receiving a BA(Hons) in Geography. During my time at university I developed an interest in history and maritime studies, a subject which consumes most of my intellectual attention today. Since 2008 I have been working for the Maersk shipping company as a Deck Officer in the British Merchant Navy. I studied at Warsash Maritime Academy and gained my second degree, this time in Marine Operations. I now work at sea for half the year, hoping I don't sink the ship or get captured by Somalia pirates... I briefly worked for BP and am now sailing as a 2nd officer on a specialist tanker chartered to the UK MOD with Maersk. I lived in both London and Portsmouth and since 2013 I have also been studying for a degree in Law with the Open University.
