Biographies of living persons abuse noticeboard

Use this page to report persistent violations of the Biographies of Living Persons policy.

    • Do not submit reports of anything other than persistant violations of the Biographies of Living Persons policy here.
    • Do not continue a dispute on this page. (Uninvolved users may wish to move disputes to a more appropriate place.)
    • When reporting a user here, inform them of this on their talk page.
    • Consider addressing the problem through dispute resolution rather than using this page.
    • If you find yourself in an edit war, ensure that all involved users are aware of the Biographies of Living Persons policy. Use the templates {{uw-biog1}}, {{uw-biog2}}, {{uw-biog3}}, {{uw-biog4}}, {{uw-biog4im}} to notify new or inexperienced users.
    • If you add a report manually, make sure it goes at the bottom of the violations section.

Administrators should add a note of any actions they take to the report. The template {{ANL}} is helpful for this. See detailed administrator instructions.

Summation of the Biographies of Living Persons policy:

Biographies of living persons (BLPs) must be written conservatively, with regard for the subject's privacy. Wikipedia is an encyclopedia, not a tabloid paper; it is not our job to be sensationalist, or to be the primary vehicle for the spread of titillating claims about people's lives. The possibility of harm to living subjects is one of the important factors to be considered when exercising editorial judgment.

This policy applies equally to biographies of living persons and to biographical material about living persons on other pages. The burden of evidence for any edit on Wikipedia, but especially for edits about living persons, rests firmly on the shoulders of the person who adds or restores the material.

In persistant cases of abuse, administrator intervention is needed to ensure complete compliance with the policy.
