Rise Above The Vile

enThis user is a native speaker of the English language.

Hello, and welcome to my userpage. I am Rise Above the Vile, however you may call me Rise for short.

About Me[edit]

On Wikipedia
  • User:Mbc362 was a previous incarnation of myself. I no longer use this account, however I do retain some of the user subpages.
  • I am a prolific editor, in the sense that I do occasionally edit wikipedia and I am indeed capable of reproduction.
  • I generally just revert vandalism, but I occasionally work on political pages or world events.
In General
  • I am liberal, but not a supporter of the Democratic party. I do not support political parties on principal.
  • I am violently anti Apple.
  • I am a student at a major university. The fact that I'm a student does not mean my opinions don't matter, just that they matter very little.

Rise's Recommendations for new users[edit]

Editing Wikipedia can be stressful for the new user, hopefully by following these suggestions your editing here can be more pleasant and more productive.

  • Don't be afraid to ask questions. Ask experienced user, ask your question at the help desk, ask your question on your talk page by typing "{{helpme}}", or even ask me. Nobody expects you to know everything when you first start and we will be happy to help you.
  • Consider skimming an article's talk page before making major changes to it; if there ongoing discussions related to your proposed edit join in before making your changes.
  • If an edit you made is deleted, don't take it personally and please don't simply reinsert it. Rather, discuss with the editor why they deleted it. (Obviously, this does not apply to vandalism deletions)
  • Please don't insert identical text in more than one place in an article. I've seen more than one editor doing this, and I don't quite understand why. If you're unsure of where to place something, bring it up on the talk page to see what other editors think.
  • Try to be familiar with Wikipedia's policies (they're located here).
  • Not to sound like an authoritarian, but adherence to Wikipedia's policies is not optional. You do not have the right to do whatever you wish here; Wikipedia allows you to edit here as part of a community.
  • Use edit summaries for every edit - it just takes a second and other editors who watch the article will appreciate it.
  • The "Show preview" button is invaluable. I still use it before making all non-trivial edits.
  • The only thing better than citing the source for your information is citing it correctly. The syntax for proper citations can be found here.
  • Consider joining a wikiproject, they're a good way to find new articles that interest you.
