Robert A. Morris is an American artist, illustrator, designer, and animator. His work often combines elements of biology and machinery in a surrealistic manner, alluding to a certain beauty or sensuality in such a juxtaposition[1]. Since the late 1990's, he has built a world-wide reputation of creating stunning imagery through a variety of media including pen & ink, photography, 3D, and digital film compositing through his company, Mechanical Whispers[2][3]. Robert's artwork has been featured in galleries alongside other notable artists such as H.R. Giger, Clive Barker, Marilyn Manson, and The Brothers Quay[4], as well as in concerts, commercials, and feature films[5]. Since working as a VFX artist, his work has been praised in publications such as Digit, Reel, Creativity, Cthulhu Sex, and Fangoria. Robert has worked with a range of prestigious clients such as Michael Moore[6], Katy Perry, The Jonas Brothers, Carrie Underwood, Activision, Nike, Inc., Pantene, MTV, American Express, Delta Air Lines and the Sundance Film Festival, as well as creating provocative music videos for Android Lust[7][8], Kittie, Maino, Casey Shea[9][10], and The Birthday Massacre.

Work[edit]

After graduating from the Savannah College of Art and Design in 1997 with a Bachelor degree in Illustration and a minor in Art History [11], Robert freelanced as an illustrator in Savannah, Georgia for a year before moving to New York City. Upon arriving in New York City, Robert worked as a Graphic Designer and Associate Art Director for Don Morris Design for 5 years. During his time as a graphic designer, Robert began working with local filmmakers and learning the tools for Visual Effects and Motion Graphics. After leaving Don Morris Design in 2004, Robert once again decided to become a freelancer, working primarily in film and video with Adobe After Effects and 3D software. In 2005, Robert co-created The Birthday Massacre music video for "Blue" with director Dan Ouellette. In 2008, Robert began doing a lot of freelance work with Allucinari on the TV show Kamen Rider Dragon Knight, adapted for US television and directed by Steve Wang. And later, teaming up with Raj Kapoor Productions on various stage performance video screen graphics for American Idol, Carrie Underwood, and the Jonas Brothers World Tour. In 2012, Robert did the graphics work for Katy Perry and The Beach Boys for their respective performances at the 54th Grammy Awards.
