Sy Syms School of Business (formerly the Syms School of Business) is Yeshiva University's business school. Sy Syms also offers graduate programs including a Masters of Science in Accounting and an Executive MBA Program. Its graduate business programs are held at the Beren Campus in New York’s Murray Hill neighborhood.

Now in its second year, the Executive MBA (EMBA) is dedicated to building a learning community from which a next generation of great business leaders will emerge. The EMBA program is designed as a dynamic, general management program that reflects the challenges professionals face in the business world today.

History[edit]

At the beginning of it's 27th year, the Sy Syms School of Business inaugurated its first Executive MBA (EMBA) class. Part of a a new Syms, the EMBA offers students state-of-the-art business knowledge in the context of the highest ethical ideals, in a unique way that only Yeshiva University can offer.

The Syms Executive MBA program curriculum was developed to challenge students to hone their business expertise in a way that prepares them to achieve their current and future professional goals.

In the summer of 2013, the first EMBA cohort traveled to Israel[1] as part of their international residency requirement.

Campus[edit]

The graduate programs take place in the University's midtown Beren Campus located in Murray Hill.

Academics[edit]

The EMBA program emphasizes three themes that are integrated throughout the curriculum:

Leadership[edit]

This theme focuses on creating the new leaders of the future. Throughout the program there is a special emphasis on how different business tools and theories can enhance the ability to lead and perform in highly competitive and stressful environments. Some of the courses offered specifically concentrate on developing leadership skills including: management in a global environment and a series of speakers of some of the most successful executives and entrepreneurs. Executive coaching for each student personalizes those requirements to fit the needs and career aspirations of each individual.

Ethics[edit]

Set at Yeshiva University, this program weaves YU values with business ethics teacheing how a sustainable business model can be achieved while also providing benefit to the community and its environment. This model depends on the ability of managers and leaders to identify personal and corporate values and to align business behavior with social expectations, legal responsibilities, and moral aspirations. Our curriculum emphasizes the central role of business ethics in our core Ethics and Legal Environment course and focuses on ethical issues in cases studied throughout the curriculum.

Entrepreneurship[edit]

The third theme helps students not just to recognize opportunities, but also to create them. Whether with a start-up or as part of a new venture within a larger organization, courses in entrepreneurship are just the beginning. With an Entrepreneur-in-Residence, students receive one-on-one guidance and support as they build their own ventures.
