Hi!

I'm a 33-year-old living in Perth, Australia, with my major interests being travel, music and politics.

For the first year of my time on Wikipedia, I was known as Orderinchaos78. I have been editing since March 2006. I have been an administrator on the English Wikipedia since March 2007.

Contents

[edit] Music

I am pitch-perfect, sing and play guitar. I tend towards alternative rock but am by no means limited - my favourite bands include Porcupine Tree, Opeth, Pure Reason Revolution, Oceansize, Gomez, The Tea Party, dredg, Tool, VAST, Faith No More, Massive Attack, Manic Street Preachers, I Mother Earth, Finger Eleven, Sense Field and numerous others. My last.fm page is pretty indicative.

[edit] Travel

I have travelled all over southern Australia, across Canada, Eastern Europe and Turkey, and have a strong appreciation for different cultures and ideas. My time spent in Canada had a big effect on me - it's amazing how much at home I felt in a country that was not my own almost from the day I landed. I was born in Northern Ireland.

[edit] Politics

I have a big interest in psephology (the study of how people vote) and in progressive policies, and firmly believe in the Internet as a growing force in keeping representative democracy accountable. My current projects include trying to build an electoral map of Australia, Canada and NZ, and figuring out an electoral system which would work best in Australia's circumstances.

[edit] Wiki Contributions

Key contributions since March 2006 have included:

  • Improvements to articles on Perth and Adelaide suburbs.
  • Assistance with standardisation of place infoboxes (and attendant article improvements) in Australia using Template:Infobox Australian place, particularly in the Melbourne, Central Coast and Newcastle areas.
  • Standardising WA local government areas, writing a set of articles on historic Victorian local government areas, and some similar work for Queensland.
  • Ministry and member lists for the Western Australian and Queensland parliaments.
  • Generally, Western Australian politics and improving its coverage to an acceptable standard.

[edit] Userboxes

I am using part of my user space to host political and other userboxes which have been removed from Wiki template space. These can be found here. If you are aware of any others that have been removed, and can find source code for them, I'll see if I can link them.
