I have an MA degree in English Lit, and an English and History BA. I'm experienced with editing in both English and French, and technical writing. I started editing articles in August 2011. I enjoy translating, researching and writing, particularly articles related to projects I belong to.
After about a year of editing, I still have a lot to learn about technical editing skills, shortcuts, and policies. The policies are useful to know if you want to save an article that's been nominated for deletion by someone else. And then there's the jargon. AfD=Article for Deletion. Lede=first paragraph of an article. WP:MOS is the shortcut to the Manual of Style for Wikipedia.
One of the trickiest pieces of editing to learn in depth is the quickest way to add references. I recommend newbies take a look at the links below, they're a handy resource.
One of my favourite discoveries over the past year of Wikipedia exploration was finding this gem: the Portal:Portal !!
