User:Parsecboy
Hi, my name is Nate, I'm 26 and currently live in Columbus, Ohio. I served 3 years and 7 months in the US Army as an intelligence analyst, including one tour in Iraq. I was medically discharged 5 months early because I broke my back from a rough parachute landing. I am a graduate of The Ohio State University (Go Bucks!) with a major in history. I am currently a graduate student studying military history at Ohio State.
If you're curious as to the origin of my username, in my 8th grade English class (lo so many years ago), my teacher gave us a test, and reminded us to put our names on the top, and that if we did not know our names, to ask him what to put. I, being the smart-ass that I am, of course raised my hand and told him I didn't know my name. He replied "put down 'parsec boy'" (probably to imply that I was spacey), which I did. I liked it, and have used it for various usernames since then.
My interests include history and other social sciences, military history and geography in particular. I've created/contribute to several articles about units stationed at Fort Bragg. Through my editing here, I've become interested in the "Kaiserliche Marine", and have created or substantially enlarged scores of articles related ships of the German navies. I'm a member of WikiProject:Ships and Wikiproject:Military History, along with the Maritime warfare task force. Much of my current editing is in support of Operation Majestic Titan, a project to create the largest Featured Topic on Wikipedia by improving all battleship and battlecruiser articles to Featured status. I am also an administrator on the English Wikipedia; most of my admin work has been done at WP:RM and other page-move related tasks, though I also keep tabs on WP:AIV and elsewhere.
