Models and Methods of Quantitative Economics (QEM) is an Erasmus Mundus Master (M.Econ., M.Ec.; also MS in Economics) program that offers rigorous training in fundamental quantitative tools by combining core economic theory with related quantitative disciplines such as Probability, Statistics, Econometrics, Finance, Actuarial Science, Mathematical Modelling, Computation and Simulation, Experimental Design, and Political Science. The program exists since 2006, and the applicants can benefit from the Erasmus Mundus scholarship scheme funded by the European Commission.
The program offers a wide range of possibilities of subjects to study as it combines the study programs of four participating universities of the Consortium.
Consortium institutions[edit]
The program is designed and operated by consortium of the following higher education European institutions:

Mobility scheme[edit]
The program requires that the students undergo a mobility study at least two and at most three of the four participating universities. This mobility enables students to benefit from the strengths of each university on a wide range of issues, and to meet and work with professionals from various backgrounds.
The first year of the program is organized such that students spend the first semester in University Paris 1 and the second semester at one of the four consortium universities. The focus of the first year of studies is on creating a solid foundation in microeconomics, macroeconomics, econometrics, and also mathematical methods in economics including courses in probability, optimization, and statistics. The second year must be spent at one of the four universities and is devoted to the chosen specialization.
Joint degree[edit]
Upon successfully completing the programme, students are awarded with a QEM Joint Degree "Models and Methods of Quantitative Economics" from the partners of the consortium. The QEM Joint Degree is officially recognized as a master's degree by each university and in each country with the same rights as the national degrees entitled:

The consortium provides extensive career assistance to the students, including help with internships and job placement for graduates.
Admission requirements[edit]
Students are recruited after a recognised bachelor's degree (B.A., B.Sc., etc.) or an equivalent qualification at the same level, i.e. 180 ECTS credits in the Bologna system. Candidates need to show very good academic records, pass an entrance examination, and show working knowledge of the English language. Any additional qualifications such as a second bachelor's degree, a master's degree, or other graduate study should be mentioned in the application.
Ideally, applicants have previously studied mathematics, applied mathematics, quantitative economics or finance. Candidates with other backgrounds are also welcomed to submit their application.
As no course of English as a second language will be offered during the program, the ability to attend courses in English is a must, and applicants from non-English-speaking countries must provide a recognized Certificate of Proficiency in English during the application process.
Erasmus Mundus scholarship[edit]
The Erasmus Mundus (EM) scholarship is provided with the support of the Erasmus Mundus programme of the European Union. EM scholarships are EU funded scholarships to support students regardless their country of origin to study selected MA programmes, including QEM. For the next academic year, the QEM Master Program will offer a number of Scholarships Category A (for non-European students) and Scholarships Category B (European students). The students that are accepted without a scholarship can apply for other scholarships offered by the program or by other institution.
