Your RfA[edit]

Hi Remarkviolinist, could I ask you to clarify this remark on your RfA, please? It seems to me that either you are claiming that your RfA was created by another user when you left your computer unattended, or that edit itself was made by someone else in your absence. There may, of course, be another explanation I am missing. Either way, this appears to be a significant breach of your account. A clear explanation of what has happened is urgently required or I will temporarily block this account as compromised. However this resolves, I would advise you to withdraw the RfA since it is extremely unlikely to pass at this time. Thanks, Gwernol 00:16, 16 February 2008 (UTC)

Your RfA was unsuccessful[edit]

I am sorry to inform you that I have closed your RfA early as realistically it was no longer capable of succeeding. Do not be too disheartened - many of our finest admins had unsuccessful early attempts. I hope you will take onboard the concerns raised by those opposing and will consider running again in the future when you have more experience. Best wishes, WjBscribe 04:55, 16 February 2008 (UTC)

Pages on Wikipedia that you think deserve the right grammar, spelling, capitalization and punctuation? I really thought that it was my work to do this because I'm a WikiDragon. So you really need to know that I want a job to do. --Pumagirl7 (talk) 15:30, 18 February 2008 (UTC)

Admin coaching[edit]

If you need a new coach, I'd be more than happy to. I'm a relatively new admin, though, so I might not know some of the most intricate of the ropes. Nousernamesleftcopper, not wood 18:52, 18 February 2008 (UTC)

Admin coaching request[edit]

You have previously expressed an interest in undergoing the Admin coaching program. We're currently engaged in a program reset to help things move more smoothly in the future. If you are still interested in the program, please go to Wikipedia:Admin coaching/Requests for Coaching and re-list yourself under Current requests, deleting your entry from Older requests. Also, double-check to make sure coaching is right for you at theCoachee checklist; WP:Adoption or WP:Editor review may be more appropriate depending on your situation and aspirations. We should get back to you within a day or so, once a coaching relationship has been identified. Thank you. MBisanz talk 07:02, 25 February 2008 (UTC)

Deletion of Window function (SQL)[edit]

Please review the article deletion criteria on Wikipedia. You say:

It doesn't give any information on the topic, very difficult to understand, needs more attention if it should stay on Wikipedia.

But none of these are valid arguments under Wikipedia's deletion policy:

Reasons for deletion include but are not limited to violation of copyright, content that does not belong in an encyclopedia, content not verifiable in a reliable source, and unreferenced negative content in biographies of living persons....

Deletion criteria do not include "the article is incomplete", "the article is hard to understand", etc. As the AfD page says:

If the page can be improved, this should be solved through regular editing, rather than deletion.

Thanks. --Macrakis (talk) 22:30, 2 March 2008 (UTC)

New! BCAD drive from Milhist[edit]

Can I invite you to particpate in our new assessment drive? It's strictly for experienced editors and has a degree of friendly competition built-in. It involves re-evaluating around 3500 Milhist B-Class articles to ensure they match our new criteria. As ever, we're offering a range of awards as our way of expressing our thanks. The drive doesn't start until 18:00 (UTC) on March 10 but you can sign up in advance here. It would be great if you can spare the time, --ROGER DAVIES talk 05:33, 10 March 2008 (UTC)

About PAGES...[edit]

Yes, I got your message, but I have a problem. I thought this would be easy because I got an idea early. I was going to start a section called "Legends" where I would put the place certain fantasy originated, but the only creature that I know its original home is dragon! I would like you to tell me where the following originated:

Unicorn

Troll

Gremlin

Elf

Sprite

Griffin

Pheonix

And maybe some more. Pumagirl7 (talk) 20:05, 10 March 2008 (UTC):o{

P.S. the :o{ is a cat.

Albatros (1899)[edit]

Hi, you assessed this as a stub for WP:Milhist, when it had already been assessed as Start class by WP:Ships. I'm just wondering why you only assessed it as a stub. Surely the class applies to the whole article, not just the section that the project is concerned with? Mjroots (talk) 10:27, 12 March 2008 (UTC)

Yes, I know. The only problem I saw was that there could have been a better prose section. The current section only has 1 or 2 sentences. But aside from that, it looked good. Redmarkviolinist Drop me a line 14:48, 12 March 2008 (UTC)

Technology Wikiproject[edit]

That sounds like an interesting prospect; what type of articles are you guys focusing on? I don't have a wealth of literature at home on technical subjects, but I could access journal articles from JSTOR that might be helpful. The question is, are you looking for help on a broad range of topics, or something specific and narrow? I've already shown my interest in medieval Chinese technology, but are you looking for help in other topics?--Pericles of AthensTalk 16:35, 25 March 2008 (UTC)

My goodness! Those articles (excluding Ancient Egyptian technology) need some serious work. I'm surprised that so many haven't even been initiated. If I can find some substantial sources and information to improve the ancient Greek article—which I think merits a great deal of attention, even more than Roman, which has been given better treatment—then I will help you guys out.--Pericles of AthensTalk 22:36, 25 March 2008 (UTC)

USS Arctic (1854)[edit]

A proposed deletion template has been added to the article USS Arctic (1854), suggesting that it be deleted according to the proposed deletion process. All contributions are appreciated, but this article may not satisfy Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and the deletion notice should explain why (see also "What Wikipedia is not" and Wikipedia's deletion policy). You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{dated prod}} notice, but please explain why you disagree with the proposed deletion in your edit summary or on its talk page. Also, please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Even though removing the deletion notice will prevent deletion through the proposed deletion process, the article may still be deleted if it matches any of the speedy deletion criteria or it can be sent to Articles for Deletion, where it may be deleted if consensus to delete is reached. If you agree with the deletion of the article, and you are the only person who has made substantial edits to the page, please add {{db-author}} to the top of USS Arctic (1854).
