About me

Just living is not enough. One must have sunshine, freedom, and a little flower. ~Hans Christian Andersen.
Hope, deceitful as it is, serves at least to lead us to the end of our lives by an agreeable route. ~ François Duc de La Rochefoucauld.

Hello and welcome to my userpage! I am the proud Wikipedian Sainsf, a very content and helpful and obviously curious Wikipedian! I am a simple student from India. I do not have much knowledge about a certain field, well, I keep contributing to subjects that most impress me. Just to say, (even if my beloved userboxes are much too talkative... well) I keep haunting, I mean trotting in, the GAN page. I love expanding rather than creating articles. Newbies, if you need any help, I have great alacrity to resolve your issues.

The Wikiworld[edit]

I have always wanted to write in encyclopaedias. So contributing to Wikipedia is a great pleasure. I have always enjoyed fixing up whatever errors possible, expanding stubs, and so on. A Wikipedian is always busy with editing, writing, fixing articles, and taking care of the policies. I am such a Wikipedian. Helpful users like Mysdaao, Sasata and Phaedriel guided me in my early days, and how many blunders and silly errors did I not make! I am also a member of the Birthday and Welcoming Committees and the Kindness Campaign.

I love writing articles about fungi, plants and animals, for my great love for nature and its enchanting beauties. Initially I contributed to a variety of stuff, but finally narrowed my area of editing and began developing and reviewing articles about mammals. I am not always around, held back by school. Here are those articles, some of whom I have written and some I have developed :

Chincoteague pony swim 2007

The human history of Chincoteague, an island on the Eastern Shore of Virginia, begins with Native Americans gathering shellfish there. By one popular tale, chincoteague meant "Beautiful land across the water" in their tongue. European settlers began to use the island in the 17th century. It had few residents, and was used primarily for grazing livestock – probably the origin of the feral Chincoteague ponies, which used to roam in the wild. The local fishing and seafood resources began to be systematically exploited in the early 19th century, and oysters became a major industry after the Civil War. Chincoteague's relative isolation ended in 1876 when the railroad arrived at Franklin City, across Chincoteague Bay, and a steamboat service was introduced; a causeway completed in 1922 allowed automobiles to reach the island. The Chincoteague Fire Department was established in 1925 and took over the traditional pony penning to raise funds. The annual carnival, pony swim (pictured), and subsequent auction now attract tens of thousands of visitors. The island, which was publicized by the 1947 book Misty of Chincoteague that became a 1961 film, is a major tourist destination in the area. (Full article...)

For these give serenity to the mind...[edit]

In all things of nature there is something of the marvelous.
~ Aristotle (384 BC - 322 BC), Parts of Animals
Mountains inspire awe in any human person who has a soul. They remind us of our frailty, our unimportance, of the briefness of our span upon this earth. They touch the heavens, and sail serenely at an altitude beyond even the imaginings of a mere mortal.
~ Elizabeth Aston, The Exploits & Adventures of Miss Alethea Darcy, 2005
Climb the mountains and get their good tidings. Nature's peace will flow into you as sunshine flows into trees. The winds will blow their own freshness into you, and the storms their energy, while cares will drop away from you like the leaves of Autumn.
~ John Muir (1838 - 1914), Our National Parks, 1901
Come to the woods, for here is rest. There is no repose like that of the green deep woods. Here grow the wallflower and the violet. The squirrel will come and sit upon your knee, the logcock will wake you in the morning. Sleep in forgetfulness of all ill. Of all the upness accessible to mortals, there is no upness comparable to the mountains.
~ John Muir (1838 - 1914), Atlantic Monthly, January 1869
A lake is the landscape's most beautiful and expressive feature. It is earth's eye; looking into which the beholder measures the depth of his own nature.
~ Henry David Thoreau
