From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Whats up? Hi, I'm trying to gather some more interest and support for the Wikipedia:WikiProject Punk music. Please check out the topics and lets get our WikiProject to function better. Recently, I've taken an interest in the Wikipedia:WikiProject hip hop and I consider that WikiProject to be better developed. I am now writing to usernames on the hiphopWP who might be interested in helping with the punkmusicWP. Hopefully we can all work together to improve articles relating to punk as has been done well with hip hop. Finally, I am trying to gather support and opinions concerning the punk house article and specifically the Theta Beta Potata article which is currently in AfD (x2) at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Theta Beta Potata (second nomination). Please check it out and voice your opinion. Xsxex 09:10, 5 September 2006 (UTC)

James Harrison edits

[edit]

Why do you continue to delete my James Harrison picture? I put in a valid licsense. I don't understand why you continue to delete it (unless you are a Browns fan). Please e-mail me (or contact me) at spurs2103champs@yahoo.com to explain how I can keep this picture on the James Harrison page.

Superb image

[edit]

I just wanted to let you know how much I like the picture you added to Bette Davis. I've been working on this article quite extensively of late, and I've been looking for a suitable picture to use of her that was not from a movie. I couldn't find anything that I thought was acceptable - certainly nothing free. The picture you added is perfect! And it's free! Cheers Rossrs 09:10, 6 September 2006 (UTC)

IrishGuy

[edit]

I don't know if this is the right place for this, but could you please do something about the conduct of user, IrishGuy. He has not only made a personal attack of deletion on a very important article outlining the history of the show "Joppa," which met various notable requirements, but he is now going so far as to continually eliminate all semblences of the reference to "Joppa" on the general "Joppa" article on wikipedia. This show is an international phenomenon. It is THE refenced site when Joppa is typed into Google, and has had various features on both MySpace and iTunes. Wikipedia has a page for the word "Joppa," and it is my belief that, if you can't give it an entire article, it should at least get a mention on that page. This user, IrishGuy, continues to harass us on that point. I don't know where else to turn. He seems to feel like he owns this website. Maybe he does...I don't know. It should also be mentioned that, out of spite, this user also went on a crusade to delete any pages associated with the comedy group. There's something not right here. He's giving this entire site a very bad name in my eyes. 24.61.157.174 20:48, 12 September 2006 (UTC)

WhatIsJoppa.com was deleted due to failing WP:WEB in an AfD. The above user and two others have recreated the article twice and have spammed the address of the website into numerous other articles. No associated articles have been deleted or have even been up for AfD. That assertion is just blatantly untrue. IrishGuy talk 20:57, 12 September 2006 (UTC)
Watch what you accuse people of, boss. I have had no hand, nor have I heard, that the article has been recreated. I spoke to the admin responsible for making the call on the issue, and he has already informed me of the fact that when the newspaper articles come through, the page is going back up. So, NO, I would not have risked other people's work by reposting it. That is a lie. What other people have done with it--there are a LOT of fans, and I can't control them all--is their problem. Additionally, the verdict was passed down that the article on Whatisjoppa was to come down until the newspaper stuff was issued. HOWEVER, the link to whatisjoppa.com was posted on the "Joppa" article page a very long time ago, with NO PROBLEMS, and NOT by myself. You have made this a personal vendetta of yours to delete that as well. An explanation of the "group" Joppa is only right belonging on the "Joppa" page because it is, according to google, what most people associate with Joppa in this day in age. So, please stop terrorizing us. You have obviously made this a personal issue, because you're hell bent on having that link removed, which has been up there for over a year, with no other member of this site having any problem with it. PLEASE LEAVE US ALONE. AND, leave our associates alone, as well. If you'd like to check the history of the "songstowearpantsto" article, you will see that IrishGuy went after them because of their association with us. Unfortunately, he was in over his head, and the article remains. You are out of control right now. This is NOT in the spirit of wikipedia! 24.61.157.174 04:19, 13 September 2006 (UTC)
Actually, you do control them. You sent them here [1]. As I have clarified before, disambiguation pages aren't for external links. Seeing as how you have been harassing me since the AfD [2], which of course got you blocked, and that you have been spamming your link into other articles (examples: [3] [4] [5] [6] [7] etc.) only articles created by me, by the by...I think it is patently clear that the only harassment here is coming from you towards me. Additionally, the guidelines for external links state that links to be avoided include: A website that you own or maintain. IrishGuy talk 06:38, 13 September 2006 (UTC)
I don't know what that link above to the discussion board has anything to do with my control over people? It's simply informative. You should read it again, my friend. Secondly, it has already been established that what I do on this site has nothing to do with the people that created the Joppa article, or implemented a mention of Whatisjoppa on the Joppa page. I could be the biggest ASSHOLE on this page. But, I haven't created anything on wikipedia. I'm simply defending people that have. Furtherfore, as I already explained, and you ignored, I did NOT originally post the link on the article. It was posted by an outside source, and erased by YOU. It had been up there since December and no one had touched it, until you came along and started harassing our site. Feel free to check the history on that one, as well as on the "songstowearpantsto" page for IrishGuy's additional harassment. 24.61.157.174 15:02, 13 September 2006 (UTC)
No, the original line linked to the article which is now deleted. What you have been doing is adding an external link to your own site on a disambiguation page. How have I harassed the Songs To Wear Pants To article? With edits like this? Or was it because at one point I put an importance tag on it? As the article guidelines note, importance must be illustrated within the article. I myself even added verifiable evidence of importance to it after I tagged it. That is hardly harassment. IrishGuy talk 19:35, 13 September 2006 (UTC)
Singling out articles due to their relationship with the whatisjoppa article is harassment, it's also "holding a grudge," because up until the point when you attacked the Joppa page, you had no gripes with the STWPT page. Again, please stop harassing us. The line on the Joppa article refers to the show Joppa, because it is the most popular use of the word, and deserves a mention. Unless you call for a deletion of the entire Joppa page--which wouldn't surprise me--then, please leave it alone. You must have something better to do... drdunbar 00:06, 14 September 2006 (UTC)
Because the others are linked to existing articles. WhatisJoppa.com was deleted. IrishGuy talk 05:05, 15 September 2006 (UTC)

Also, you're funny. If you want to know if this is personal or not, simply look at this. The STWPT article was altered by IrishGuy to remove ANY mention of Joppa. However, he had NO PROBLEM with the other songs mentioned on that page...why is that? They are no more or less notable than the Joppa Theme Song that STWPT created?? In fact, that song was so popular that more than half the fan base that Joppa has came from STWPT because they liked the song. So, tell me why that song, as opposed to the other songs listed there, is one you keep deleting? Is that not personal? Explain. drdunbar 16:45, 14 September 2006 (UTC)

Let it also be known that IrishGuy just DISAGREED to an act of mediation. I was trying to bring in a third party on this, and he did not want that. So, it just goes to show where he's coming from. JARANDA, if you're reading this, could you please stop him harassing these pages. Drdunbar 15:02, 15 September 2006 (UTC)

Unprotecting Clare Nasir article

[edit]

Hi Jaranda. You un-protected the Clare Nasir article. User:Rich Farmbrough protected the Clare Nasir article due to consistent and unmitigated vandalism, especially from anonymous contributor User_talk:195.93.21.33. (see User_talk:Rich_Farmbrough/Archive/2006Aug#Vandalism_on_Clare_Nasir.27s_article_..._again) If the contributor starts vandalising again, I hope you would protect it or take other measures. One can't keep up with reverting the vandalism as we all know. Bests. --- (Bob) Wikiklrsc 17:11, 13 September 2006 (UTC) (talk)

We got an unblock-en-l mail from User:Miamidolphins3 who didn't understand why he was blocked. Subsequently to that he seems to have responded on his talk page ( [[8]] ) protesting that his reversions were per unattributed potentially libelous quote policy for living human article subjects.

I went back through the edit war, and while I think that some of the anon changes he reverted may have been legitimate, at least some of them were also probably questionable adds, and his claim that they rise to the level of potentially libelous seems at least basically credible to me on first glance.

Could you review the block and let him know?

Thank you. Georgewilliamherbert 19:21, 13 September 2006 (UTC)

I have readded the part about Michaels being nominated for this year's Roberto Clemente Award. How stating that someone has been nominated for a community service award is libelous I'll never know. There have been two articles posted on the page to back up the facts since I first added the note. The note as well as the links to the articles have been deleted repeatedly.

Elizabeth Taylor

[edit]

Jaranda,

I notice that you keep removing the fan site "Elizabeth Taylor Resource". That web site has quite a lot of information including an extensive biography that is well researched, thousands of photos, filmography and television apperances, and a number of articles old and new that can not be found elsewhere. While I realize Wikipedia doesn't like fan sites, you will learn more from the "Elizabeth Taylor Resource" than any other single web site dedicated to Taylor.

This Mase issue

[edit]

This user LMZ00 is causing us to have an edit war over this article with Mase. I understand that the article is uncomfirmed and unsourced by the rest of the users, but what I understand is that I help improve articles, not ruin them (as Lmz00) quoted in his attempt to discredit myself as a vandal. I am tired of rewriting this article only to have it revert as soon as Lmz00 logs on. Can there be a solution to this problem? I am growing tired of addressing this user about the article! Here's what the article looks like after my editing [9] and the version Lmz00 done [10]. There is a mediation tag on this article. I placed this on September 20, 2006. Thanks again. Vince Young Article

Formal Wikipedia policies dictate that an article has to be renominated for GA status after a delisting. After the fixes are implemented, it has to be renominated instead of you or someone else merely reverting it back to an earlier state.

Hey Jaranda, thank you for supporting my recent RfA. It finished with an amazing final tally of 160/4/1. I really appreciate your support. Cheers, Sarah Ewart (Talk) 10:27, 24 September 2006 (UTC)

I have noticed when you closed the above AfD, you did not remove the category template, "REMOVE THIS TEMPLATE WHEN CLOSING THIS AfD". By deleting this when closing it pulls the discussion out of the category. I have deleted it from this discussion, but if you could review any other closures you have done recently and remove the tag from them it would be greatly appreicated. This is a fairly recent change. The official policy is at WP:AFDC. I have been going through the listing in each of the categories CAT:AFD and removing the tag from pages that are closed and adding the approriate category code for those in the uncatagorised group. Anibal Acosta filmmaker article : Deleted ?

[edit]

Hi. I still don't understand why this article was deleted. I think you should do some research before deleting something that you don't even know about.

You should start doing at least some google search and see his material as an independent filmmaker information. You can also check his log at the IMDB (Internet Movie Database), there is just one record, from an international movie he produced (also acting) in Europe and parts of Latin america but you didn't gave me time to add that information.

You should take a look here.

[IMDB record Escadrons de la mort: L'école française]

[IMDB - Documentary. Producer, Director of photography and Actor as himself]

Another admin proposed the article for deletion, but after doing some research about this filmmaker he realized he was wrong proposing that, and he changed his mind. You should be more open and don't be racist against foreign independent films. Just because some people is starting to get know in the movie industry it doesn't mean it must be deleted.

Thanks for your time.

The names of People mentioned in this Article show the History of the Hindu caste!!!which is almost 2000 years old.. Some of the personalitied mentioned in the Page belong to the 4th Century A.D. and are also eminent Poets..

Most of them were Politicians who brought Freedom to India and also were crucial in forming the state of Andhra Pradesh... Most of them might not be known internationally but are very well known Nationally and Regionally within India.

Also The question is there are similar pages which hold information about Famous pesonalities from other communities in Wikipedia... Why was only this page tagged for deletion!!!

Or was it nominated for Speedy Deletion by any other Member ??? If yes then these are Mischief Makers??? Because i can count other communities ho,ding similar pages ....

Calm down with the speedy deletion

[edit]

I was working on an article on Jordana Mendelson, a published author and art historian which was deleted less than two hours of article creation. Perhaps she seems like an unimportant person outside of the art historical community, but she actually an important and respected historian. Her current tome on imagery in the spanish print media a groundbreaking work in the field of spanish art history and her forthcoming anthology on the concept of modernity is highly anticipated. She is also widely published in art historical magazines and journals. She is also the current president of the American Society for Hispanic Art Historical Studies.

Maybe this doesnt seem that important to the average reader, but she is an important figure in the art historical community. colin256 02:02, 2 October 2006 (UTC)

Images on episode lists

[edit]

Are fair-use images allowed on episode list pages?? The only thing I asked that because, I am having problems with some users with images on the Pokmeon episode list, like I wrote images idenitfy episodes visually and identify key moments. But this Pokémon Collaborative Project voted on not having images which I wasn't imformed with.

I got a commit from a two users liking the idea of images:

Well I personally think they improve the article, and I've followed certain Featured List Candidates involving fair use images, and opposers have always stated that images should be in relation to the text, much like any other image, and not there for decorative purposes.
