Slugabed has been a slightly active Wikipedian since March 15, 2006. He edits slowly and sporadically.

Jacob Shemkovitz was born on September 10, 1984 in Connecticut. He graduated from Rhode Island School of Design (RISD) in June of 2006, majoring in graphic design. In March 2007, he moved to Northampton, Massachusetts where he worked for two years in the design department of a local independent copy shop. In August of 2009, Jacob and his girlfriend Allison relocated to an apartment in Prospect Heights, Brooklyn, NYC. Jacob currently works a menial job in Park Slope while searching for gainful employment.

Jacob is a self-educated student of the history of several different media, including film and comics. One major area of personal interest is stories' use and interpretation of geography, general and specific. Another line of interest involves the utility of genre in storytelling.

At some point, Jacob may contribute self-made graphics, maps and/or photography (all of which he has some level of expertise in creating) to Wikipedia.
