Steven James Garner (born October 19 1956, in Wellington, New Zealand) is a New Zealand citizen with permanent resident status in the United States, living in Fairfield, Iowa.[1] Steven has been contributing to Wikipedia under this user account since September 20, 2007.

Steven James Garner was born Friday, October 19, 1956 to David McNiven Garner and Edna Jean Garner (nee Ramsden), at St. Helens Hospital in Wellington, New Zealand.
In 1959 Steven sailed to New York with his parents and siblings, where he lived in Mount Vernon, New York and started Kindergarten, while his father completed his PhD in Physical Oceanography at New York University.
In 1962, the family moved back to Wellington, by driving from New York to Niagara Falls, and north across Canada around the Great Lakes to Manitoba, where they visited the farm of Steven's Great Uncle Herbert. The family took the Canadian Pacific Railway from Manitoba to Vancouver, where they boarded the SS Canberra for Auckland, New Zealand, during its maiden world voyage.
Steven attended Island Bay School in Island Bay, Wellington, New Zealand (Primer 1 through Standard 4).
In 1968, the family sailed from Auckland, New Zealand across the Pacific Ocean through the Panama Canal to the east coast of North America, on the Port Townsville. They stopped at the east coast ports of Charleston, Philadelphia, New York, Boston and then arrived in Halifax, Nova Scotia, Canada.
Steven finished the spring term of Grade 6 at Admiral Westphal School in Dartmouth, Nova Scotia in 1968. Over the summer of 1968 the family moved to Lakeview Road in Lakeview, Halifax, Nova Scotia. From here, Steven attended Grades 7 through 9 at Georges P. Vanier Junior High School, in Fall River, Nova Scotia. Upon the completion of Grade 9 in 1971, the family flew back to Auckland, New Zealand, where Steven completed high school at Kelston Boys High School in Kelston, New Zealand, Auckland. Upon completion of High School, Steven attended the University of Otago in Dunedin, New Zealand, where he studied Physics and Mathematics.
On May 24, 1980, Steven married Cathharina Jantina Macfarlane in Wellington, New Zealand, and lived in Wellington, Auckland and Helensville, New Zealand until he immigrated to Fairfield, Iowa, USA in December, 1984. Steven and Catharina had 2 children: Melissa Deva ("Devi") in Wellington, New Zealand, and Lincoln in Fairfield, Iowa. Catharina and Steven were divorced in 1991.
In 1991, Steven moved to Lockridge, Iowa, where he and Byn Always together had a daughter, Sprite Always.
Steven married Billie Jo Wiley on Sunday, August 20, 1995, with whom she had 3 children: Dannidyn (deceased), Zaya & Abyni. Billie and Steven divorced April 3, 2002.
Steven established NaTel on October 16, 1996, with Jeffrey Hedquist, Michael Schill and others as a local access fiber optic provider with services in Fairfield, Iowa, Centerville, Iowa, Mount Pleasant, Iowa, and Maharishi Vedic City, Iowa.
Today Steven is a functional designer and web application developer, striving for highly scalable, accessible and fault tolerant systems. He develops and markets online web applications including Embode, email-geni.us/, Email-Extract, Concert-Kingdom, and client sites such as www.hedquist.com and www.associatedcrafts.com.
Steven enjoys traveling, cycling, swimming, skiing, music, photography, and parenting.
Steven is a single father of five children. In 2008 he was a part-time student at Kirkwood Community College.
