[edit] Real Life

[edit] Computer Games
Up to 2007, most of my online activities were related to computer games. I've been an avid player of computer games ever since I got a Commodore 64 at the age of 14 in 1985. In university I got my first PC and played my first multiplayer deathmatch with the people on my dorm, first a 1-on-1 or coop via serial link, later on LAN. Ahh ... those were the days! Ever since that I've been hooked on first person shooter games, with an occasional strategy game. I started online gaming in 1998 with Unreal and UT, making me a hardcore gamer. Along with the gaming came other online community activities like forums, wikis, websites, ... Recently, as a family father, I've cut down on my gaming time a lot and eventually took an extended break.
For details see my personal gaming history.
[edit] Wikis and Wikipedia
I learned the ropes of building a wiki at GuildWiki, where I've been an active contributor for almost 2 years and eventually an admin. GuildWiki is a wiki about the MMORPG Guild Wars, and is now one of the biggest computer game related wikis on the internet. I've had a great time on GuildWiki, and I'm proud of what we've acomplished.
My next shot was "TaRaPedia", a wiki about Tabula Rasa. I started the wiki on Wikia as bureaucrat/sysop, designed the look and basic structure. Later the wiki was imported into an other wiki, became the "official" wiki during beta, and eventually moved back to Wikia. Unfortunatly I became bored with the game quickly and abandoned the wiki along with the game.
Since 2008 I'm an active contributor on the German Wikipedia, mostly in the energy technology section, but also in mining, mills, industrial history, etc. Most of my edits on en: and Commons are interwiki links to de: or categories.
[edit] My Online Nickname
Contrary to what my nickname implies, I'm not into playing Tetris. The name started as a joke based on a 1999 GameSpy Grudge "Cliffy B. vs. the L-Shaped Tetris Block", back in the days when I was a hardcore Unreal Tournament player, but eventually I liked it better than my previous nickname and sticked to it. I've been using it for more than 5 years now, in all games that I've played and on all forums and wikis that I've frequented. I'm not aware of anyone else using that nick, so if you see someone with that name somewhere, chances are it's me. Say Hi!
