TuckerResearch is from the e-mail address I chose to receive all my genealogy related material back in high school, and it sort of evolved into my screen name of choice for all scholarly topics.
I am originally from Killeen, Texas, and earned a Bachelor's degree and Master's degree in History from Tarleton State University in Stephenville, Texas. In the fall of 2006, I started work on my Ph.D. at the University of Texas at Arlington, in the field of Transatlantic History. I completed my Ph.D. in spring 2011.[1][2] In late 2010, the Texas Tech University Press accepted my revised master’s thesis for publication in 2012, tentatively titled Oysters, Macaroni, and Beer: Workers and the Company Store in Thurber, Texas.
I am interested in all aspects of history, but my favorite "just for fun" subjects are the Bible, biblical chronology (particularly the New Chronology of David Rohl), and ancient history because I grew up in a household that appreciated both history and the Bible. On the scholarly front, I've written about Thurber, Texas, La Salle and I am currently interested in the history of cartography, especially maps of the early Spanish Empire and mapmakers like Vincenzo Coronelli. I am currently working on the syncretization (or creolization) of toponyms in the New World, particularly the mixture of European and Amerindian names in maps of the Spanish Empire.
But, my historical interests are wide and deep. I also enjoy American politics and have an odd, cursory fascination with British politics, probably because of its historical interest and my admiration for the British Empire. I also have odd and paradoxical interests in Christian theology (particularly Arminianism and soteriology) and hermetica, i.e. the "occult" (particularly the Kabbalah and Christian mysticism). I also enjoy listening to varied types of music (especially those with roots in the American South and Texas), strumming on my guitar, and poetry. I am also an incurable bibliophile, and, because I am conceited and cocky, I consider myself a polyhistor. But then again, I am arrogant.

-
- Adherance: An Evangelical Christian, I grew up a Southern Baptist, but I now believe I should say I am a Free Will Baptist and Arminian in the mold of Arminius and Episcopius, not Limborch or Wesley. As an old school Baptist I believe stridently in individual soul liberty and the separation of church and state.
- I think that F. Leroy Forlines, Robert Picirilli, Stephen Ashby, and J. Matthew Pinson are some of the best theologians out there today.
- I lean towards the mystics in my direct relationship with God, and thus my beliefs, depending on my mood, may be informed by the Kabbalah, Christian Kabbalah, Messianic Judaism, Gnosticism, Hermetica, Reincarnation, and even some Sufism.
