sorry, I just saw only now the coment on hox genes you made on Template:MolBioGeneExp. yes, that is a very valid question (head-scratching), no idea why it is there. They are regulated a lot by transcription factors, methylation patterns and miRNAs, which all gets reset at gametogenesis so are not inherited as an organism, but are kept by the cell lineages (cell memory) which is not epigenetic I think at least.
