User:WAVY 10 Fan/WAVY 10 Essay/WP:FAND

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Fandalism is a portmanteau of fanatic and vandalism, and happens when a fanatic abuses a resource like Wikipedia for one the following purposes.

  1. To create "shipp" relationships. This is where someone tries to pair up two fictional characters in a work of art because the user feels that they would make a great couple. If seen, this should be reverted UNLESS there is official confirmation.
  2. To write "Oh, I look like (insert name here)". This is where someone uses a page to write they look like a certain celebrity.
  3. To write "(insert name here) is so hot" (or related stuff; such as I love so and so). This is generally a fanboy/fangirl reaction.
  4. To write "I hate (insert name here)" (or related stuff). Vandalism submitted by someone who doesn't like a particular celebrity, or is a fan of their opposition.
  5. To write "(insert name here)" is gay. Usually revolving around the same rationale as the I hate so and so edits. This also (if not true or at least unconfirmed) runs the risk of libel (which in turn violates WP:BLP)
  6. To write "I know (insert name here)". This is as productive as someone posting "First" on an article, and is/can be more annoying. Also obviously non-productive.
  7. To write "Here's a link to (fansite goes here)". See WP:EL for additional information.
