Lovecraft: Fear of the Unknown[edit]

Lovecraft: Fear of the Unknown is a feature length documentary that looks at the life, work and mind of author H.P. Lovecraft. The film features interviews with Guillermo Del Toro, Neil Gaiman, John Carpenter, Peter Straub, Caitlin R. Kiernan, Ramsey Campbell, Stuart Gordon, S.T. Joshi, Robert M. Price and Andrew Migliore.

Lovecraft is the first documentary produced by the production company Wyrd. It was written & directed by Frank H. Woodward. Produced by William Janczewski, James B. Myers, and Woodward. Narration by Robin Atkin Downes. Music by Mars of Dead House Music.

The documentary also features Cthulhu mythos artwork from such Lovecraftian artists as Paul Carrick, John Coulthart, Tom Sullivan, Cyril van der Haegen, Paul Komoda, Lee Moyer, Christian Matzke, the H.P. Lovecraft Historical Society, John Cherevka, Tony Salmons and Adam Byrne.

Lovecraft won Best Documentary at the 2008 Comic-Con International Independent Film Festival where it also premiered. Since then the documentary has screened at a number of festivals including Shriekfest (Los Angeles), Tromadance (Park City), The H.P. Lovecraft Film Festival (Portland, OR), Rojo Sangre 2008 (Buenos Aires, Argentina), the 2008 Eerie Horror Film Festival (Erie, PA) and conventions in Fargo, ND and Sacramento, CA. The film also had a limited theatrical run at Cinema du Parc in Montreal. This week long engagement was co sponsored by the Fantasia Film Festival.

The film is due for release on DVD in 2009.
