Original Barnstar.png The Original Barnstar
I hereby award this Barnstar to Abaca, for tireless and diligent improvements in the article Thomas Pynchon, correcting my own ultraviolet prose, and generally making the article worthy to be Featured. Anville 09:27, 8 March 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Infobox

I appreciate your edits to the Infobox inside Gravity's Rainbow. However, it's generally consensus within the WikiNovels project that whenever information on a book's first edition is available, it takes precedence over other editions. See Wikipedia:WikiProject_Novels/GeneralForum.

Secondly, Released applies to the original publication date (1973 in this case), not the publication date of a given edition (2006, as you suggested). Series refers to an author's series of books, not a publisher's. Spamguy 16:14, 14 May 2006 (UTC)

(1) I agree most spellings of Thomas Pynchon's mother is with a "K" but in SSDI she is cited with "C" for Catherine. See: [[1]]

(2) In lifetime of his father, Thomas was probably referred to as "Jr" but he is the fifth "V" to bear that name. See: [2]]

(3) BTW, your work on Thomas Pynchon's article is great!

[edit] License tagging for Image:Vbytrp.jpeg

Thanks for uploading Image:Vbytrp.jpeg. Wikipedia gets thousands of images uploaded every day, and in order to verify that the images can be legally used on Wikipedia, the source and copyright status must be indicated. Images need to have an image tag applied to the image description page indicating the copyright status of the image. This uniform and easy-to-understand method of indicating the license status allows potential re-users of the images to know what they are allowed to do with the images.

For more information on using images, see the following pages:

This is an automated notice by OrphanBot. If you need help on selecting a tag to use, or in adding the tag to the image description, feel free to post a message at Wikipedia:Media copyright questions. 01:07, 12 July 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Against the Day

I did some cleanup work on the page for the Next Thick Book, Against the Day. In addition to deploying inline citations, I paraphrased the plot synopsis which had been quoted in its entirety. See how it reads now, if you like, and improve accordingly.

Happy editing. Anville 22:03, 24 July 2006 (UTC)

I see you fixed up the excerpt using the Penguin catalog before I could get to it. Good job! Anville 15:18, 15 August 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Disputed fair use rationale for Image:Gravitys-Rainbow-722917.jpg

Thanks for uploading Image:Gravitys-Rainbow-722917.jpg. However, there is a concern that the rationale you have provided for using this image under "fair use" may be invalid. Please read the instructions at Wikipedia:Non-free content carefully, then go to the image description page and clarify why you think the image qualifies for fair use. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If it is determined that the image does not qualify under fair use, it will be deleted within a couple of days according to our criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thank you.BetacommandBot (talk) 23:42, 13 February 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Sorry

I was trying to find a way to make the copyvio tag still have the original text still show up (trying to make it less obstructive) but failed. Not really good on templates. ηoian ‡orever ηew ‡rontiers 01:01, 27 November 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Edit summaries

I'd be obliged if you did not mark as minor edits that clearly are not. It gives rise to suspicion that you're trying to slip things under the radar. Like a quote that's just been excised for copyright reasons, for instance. In the case of the reinsertion of the text, I'm moved to agree that the format of the quote does add to the article, and meshes well with the sentence "Pynchon employs the spelling, grammar, and syntax of an actual late 18th century document,", and so I'm not going to pull it again.

Having studied your edit record, may I ask if you have any WP:COI issues? thanks --Tagishsimon (talk) 22:54, 2 December 2008 (UTC)

The standard MO for copyright violations is to blank them first, ask questions asked second. Contributors who have added one copyvio often have added more than one, and so studying contributor history is a sensible precaution. The tone is, don't mess with coyvios. --Tagishsimon (talk) 00:12, 3 December 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Pynchon External Links

I see you restored the San Narciso external link I removed. The reason I took it out is that it's specific to a particular novel. I think it belongs on the Lot 49 page, not the Pynchon page, but don't feel so strongly that I'd revert your edit (especially after all your work on this page!). Still, you might consider it. [edit] FAR for Thomas Pynchon

I have nominated Thomas Pynchon for a featured article review here. Please join the discussion on whether this article meets featured article criteria. Articles are typically reviewed for two weeks. If substantial concerns are not addressed during the review period, the article will be moved to the Featured Article Removal Candidates list for a further period, where editors may declare "Keep" or "Remove" the article's featured status. The instructions for the review process are here. Regards, —Mattisse (Talk) 19:26, 30 July 2009 (UTC)
