Your message[edit]

Hello, I don't agree with some of your statements. Firstly, you haven't explained what you dislike in the Prokudin-Gorskii image. Secondly, you haven't formatted the images you added; they are too big for the article in question; please read Wikipedia:Picture_tutorial for details. Thirdly, you insist on deleting a mainstream view that the ethnonym is derived from the name of Uzbeg Khan, without providing profer references, which is not good. Fourthly, you delete a harmless redirect, although a redirect has no bearing to the content of the article whatever. If you really want to be helpful to this project, please address these concerns. Good luck, Ghirla | talk 14:17, 29 December 2005 (UTC)[reply]

I marked these for deletion because the person who drew them did not release them under a free license. See WP:IT#For_image_creators. If you know the creator personally you need to explain to her what these licenses do, namely that they all allow commercial use. Ashibaka tock 19:09, 30 December 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Edits regarding the Uzbeks[edit]

I made the recent edits to the Uzbeks article including the history and genetics section. I don't quite understand why you think I'm 'blackening' the Uzbeks. The history is well known and the genetic evidence is pretty convincing. The Uzbeks are mainly a Turkic-Mongol people who mixed with remnants of earlier Iranian tribes. They are also a relatively new ethnic group in their current state, but come from a long-line of other peoples. I'm hardly playing a nationalist game here since I'm not Uzbek or Tajik. The Tajiks have also absorbed considerable Turkic-Mongol ancestry and I'm just wondering why it's so horrible to be part Mongol. The edits come from reliable sources and I've linked the other data to academic journals. So what's the problem? this is an encyclopedia of information. If you have information that counters what I've written, then present it and we'll see what's more convincing. And stop re-adding the copyrighted image. You have to have permission to post images, something I myself didn't realize when I first came to wikipedia, AND the picture is just of some veiled woman. It doesn't add anything to the article as you can't even see the woman really. Thanks. Tombseye 19:16, 30 December 2005 (UTC)[reply]

File permission problem with File:Szt.jpg[edit]

Thanks for uploading File:Szt.jpg. I noticed that while you provided a valid copyright licensing tag, there is no proof that the creator of the file agreed to license it under the given license.

If you created this media entirely yourself but have previously published it elsewhere (especially online), please either

  • make a note permitting reuse under the CC-BY-SA or another acceptable free license (see this list) at the site of the original publication; or
  • Send an email from an address associated with the original publication to permissions-en@wikimedia.org, stating your ownership of the material and your intention to publish it under a free license. You can find a sample permission letter here. If you take this step, add {{OTRS pending}} to the file description page to prevent premature deletion.

If you did not create it entirely yourself, please ask the person who created the file to take one of the two steps listed above, or if the owner of the file has already given their permission to you via email, please forward that email to permissions-en@wikimedia.org.

If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Non-free content, use a tag such as {{non-free fair use in|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:File copyright tags#Fair use, and add a rationale justifying the file's use on the article or articles where it is included. See Wikipedia:File copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have provided evidence that their copyright owners have agreed to license their works under the tags you supplied, too. You can find a list of files you have created in your upload log. Files lacking evidence of permission may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. You may wish to read the Wikipedia's image use policy. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.  Ronhjones  (Talk) 00:49, 9 May 2011 (UTC)[reply]
