Hi Nin-Nin,

Just letting you know I changed your Miko Mido article to change the phrase "hentai anime" to "ecchi anime". I hope you're not offended, and I'm sorry if I seem like a pedant, but it's just that hentai anime is a term which, while popularized in the West, is actually a gross mistranslation and many Japanese consider it offensive. The word ecchi was originally (in Meiji-era Japan) an abbreviation for the word hentai, but it's now actually very different in meaning, hentai meaning perverse and ecchi meaning sexual. If you look at the hentai article, there is more detailed info on this usage error, as well as an external link to the very informative 'H' does not mean 'hentai' page. Ecchi/Hentai

Just in reply to your post to me, you originally put the term hentai anime in the article - I changed it to ecchi myself - glad you're OK with the redefinition though. I know there's a variety of terms used to describe this genre, as a Japanese speaker myself, but it's just that "hentai anime" is very different from "H anime", and is a term I don't think should be encouraged, although of course that's just my POV, but we don't want to seem like ignorant gaijin. Even though "hentai anime" is widespread in the west, it is considered offensive by the Japanese themselves, so maybe "H anime" would be more culturally appropriate.
