Notability of an article[edit]

Some of the articles, I have written about football in different places were not notable. Is it because I didn't add references or links to my sources? What can I do to write a notable article (eg about football). (Αλεξανδράκης (talk) 12:03, 27 December 2011 (UTC))[reply]

  • First up, read the guidelines at WP:FOOTY/Notability. Also read WP:GNG. If your subject doesn't meet the football notability guidelines, it must meet the overall ones.
  • Second, read WP:V which is our guideline on verifiability. If you didn't add any sources or references, then that was probably why your articles were deleted.
  • Thirdly, I recommend you join Wikipedia:WikiProject Football and ask for more advice on their talkpage. --Elen of the Roads (talk) 14:32, 29 December 2011 (UTC)[reply]

If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

A tag has been placed on Nevis national football team, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G4 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be a repost of material that was previously deleted following a deletion debate, such as at articles for deletion. Under the specified criteria, where an article has substantially identical content to that of an article deleted after debate, and any changes in the content do not address the reasons for which the material was previously deleted, it may be deleted at any time.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, contest the deletion by clicking on the button labelled "Click here to contest this speedy deletion". Doing so will take you to the talk page where you will find a pre-formatted place for you to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. You can also visit the page's talk page directly to give your reasons, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the page meets the criterion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the page that would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, you can contact one of these administrators to request that the administrator userfy the page or email a copy to you. Sir Sputnik (talk) 06:09, 20 January 2012 (UTC)[reply]

The article Tony Jamieson has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

Article about a footballer who fails WP:GNG and who has not played in a fully pro league. His international appearances were all unofficial meaning he fails WP:NSPORT.

While all contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, content or articles may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. Hello, I notice that you recently created a new page, List of Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare locations. First, thank you for your contribution; Wikipedia relies solely on the efforts of volunteers such as yourself. Unfortunately, the page you created covers a topic on which we already have a page - Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare. Because of the duplication, your article has been tagged for speedy deletion. Please note that this is not a comment on you personally and we hope you will continue helping to improve Wikipedia. If the topic of the article you created is one that interests you, then perhaps you would like to help out at Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare - you might like to discuss new information at the article's talk page.

If you think that the article you created should remain separate, contest the deletion by clicking on the button labelled "Click here to contest this speedy deletion". Additionally if you would like to have someone review articles you create before they go live so they are not nominated for deletion shortly after you post them, allow me to suggest the article creation process and using our search feature to find related information we already have in the encyclopedia. Try not to be discouraged. Wikipedia looks forward to your future contributions. Rorshacma (talk) 18:21, 23 January 2012 (UTC)[reply]

February 2012[edit]

Welcome to Wikipedia. Although everyone is welcome to contribute constructively to the encyclopedia, articles should not be moved, as you did to Greece national under-19 football team, without good reason. They need to have a name that is both accurate and intuitive. Wikipedia has some guidelines in place to help with this. Generally, a page should only be moved to a new title if the current name doesn't follow these guidelines. Also, if a page move is being discussed, consensus needs to be reached before anybody moves the page. Take a look at the welcome page to learn more about contributing to this encyclopedia. Thank you. Deletion notifications[edit]

Hi Αλεξανδράκης,

You recently received a message about either "Articles for Deletion" or "Proposed Deletion" of an article you created. I'd like to ask you a few quick questions, so that we can try to improve those notices in a WikiProject I work with:

  1. Was the message helpful? Were the instructions clear and easy to follow?
  2. If not, how do you think the message could be improved?
  3. What do you think about the deletion process in general? Do you understand how to contest a deletion?

Feel free to answer here or send me your response by email (swalling@wikimedia.org). I won't quote you or link your answers to your username if you don't feel comfortable with that. Your feedback is incredibly useful for improving the content of deletion notifications, so please take a minute to think about and answer these questions.

Thank you! Steven Walling (WMF) • talk 00:02, 18 February 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Your article submission Andrew Achari[edit]

Hello Αλεξανδράκης. It has been over six months since you last edited your article submission, entitled Andrew Achari.

The page will shortly be deleted. If you plan on editing the page to address the issues raised when it was declined and resubmit it, simply edit the submission and remove the {{db-afc}} or {{db-g13}} code. Please note that Articles for Creation is not for indefinite hosting of material deemed unsuitable for the encyclopedia mainspace.

If your submission has already been deleted by the time you get there, and you want to retrieve it, copy this code: {{subst:Refund/G13|Wikipedia talk:Articles for creation/Andrew Achari}}, paste it in the edit box at this link, click "Save", and an administrator will in most cases undelete the submission.

Thanks for your submission to Wikipedia, and happy editing. -- t numbermaniac c 03:58, 3 November 2013 (UTC)[reply]
