July 2013[edit]

Information icon Please do not introduce incorrect information into articles, as you did to American bison. Your edits appear to be vandalism and have been reverted. If you believe the information you added was correct, please cite references or sources or discuss the changes on the article's talk page before making them again. If you would like to experiment, use the sandbox. Thank you. Rivertorch (talk) 14:43, 15 July 2013 (UTC)

The referenced edit was in good faith and was based on the fifth edition of the cited source. Will update again with more specific link. Thanks.—140.153.24.26 (talk) 15:16, 15 July 2013 (UTC)

My apologies for the warning, in that case. Thank you for updating the article with a new ref. Rivertorch (talk) 21:15, 15 July 2013 (UTC)

"Facade"[edit]

"Facade" has been entirely taken into English, and is no longer a foreign word. As such, it is spelled without special characters, which aren't used in English orthography. Thanks. Beyond My Ken (talk) 14:30, 1 October 2013 (UTC)

It hasn't been taken into English in the same way that pajamas/pyjamas, algebra, or other words have in that it isn't pronounced with a hard c as a native English speaker would expect upon first encountering it. Even to someone with no experience in French or Portuguese or other languages using the cedilla, printing it as "façade" at least hints that there's some reason for it being pronounced differently than arcade or brocade. I'd be completely in favor of removing the cedilla if it were pronounced with a hard c, but as it is now, writing it as "facade" only adds further inconsistency to a language that is already difficult to spell.—140.153.24.26 (talk) 15:04, 15 October 2013 (UTC)

Information icon Hello, I'm K6ka. I noticed that you made a change to an article, Sea Hawk, but you didn't provide a reliable source. It's been removed for now, but if you'd like to include a citation and re-add it, please do so! If you need guidance on referencing, please see the referencing for beginners tutorial, or if you think I made a mistake, you can leave me a message on my talk page. Thank you. March 2014[edit]

Information icon Hello. Your recent edit to List of New Trier High School alumni appears to have added the name of a non-notable entity to a list that normally includes only notable entries. In general, a person or organization added to a list should have a pre-existing article before being added to most lists. If you wish to create such an article, please first confirm that the subject qualifies for a separate, stand-alone article according to Wikipedia's notability guideline. Thank you. Block message:

Autoblocked because your IP address was recently used by "ORSA of America". The reason given for ORSA of America's block is: " Welcome to Wikipedia. Because we have a policy against usernames that give the impression that the account represents a group, organization or website, I have blocked this account; please take a moment to create a new account with a username that represents only yourself as an individual and which complies with our username policy. It also appears that your account is intended to be used for the purpose of telling the world about an organization, person or cause that you consider worthwhile. Unfortunately, many good causes are not sufficiently notable for their own Wikipedia article, and all users are discouraged from editing in any area where they have an inherent conflict of interest. You may wish to consider one of these alternative outlets. If your username does not represent a group, organization or website, you may appeal this username block by adding the text {{unblock|reason=Your reason here ~~~~}} below this notice. You may simply create a new account, but you may prefer to change your username to one that complies with our username policy, so that your past contributions are associated with your new username. If you would prefer to change your username, you may appeal this username block by adding the text {{unblock-un|new username|reason=Your reason here ~~~~}} below this notice. Thank you. ".

Decline reason:

Please request unblock at your registered user account page. --Anthony Bradbury"talk" 20:27, 23 April 2014 (UTC)

Information icon Please do not add inappropriate external links to Wikipedia, as you did to Water Mill, New York. Wikipedia is not a collection of links, nor should it be used for advertising or promotion. Inappropriate links include, but are not limited to, links to personal websites, links to websites with which you are affiliated (whether as a link in article text, or a citation in an article), and links that attract visitors to a website or promote a product. See the external links guideline and spam guideline for further explanations. Because Wikipedia uses the nofollow attribute value, its external links are disregarded by most search engines. If you feel the link should be added to the page, please discuss it on the associated talk page rather than re-adding it. Thank you. Melcous (talk) 00:11, 24 April 2015 (UTC)
