July 2011[edit]

Welcome to Wikipedia. Everyone is welcome to make constructive contributions to Wikipedia, but at least one of your recent edits, such as the one you made to Mesangial cell, did not appear to be constructive and has been automatically reverted (undone) by ClueBot NG.

  • Please use the sandbox for any test edits you would like to make, and take a look at the welcome page to learn more about contributing to this encyclopedia. Note that human editors do monitor recent changes to Wikipedia articles, and administrators have the ability to block users from editing if they repeatedly engage in vandalism.
  • ClueBot NG produces very few false positives, but it does happen. If you believe the change you made should not have been detected as unconstructive, please read about it, report it here, remove this warning from your talk page, and then make the edit again.
  • The following is the log entry regarding this warning: Mesangial cell was changed by (u) (t) ANN scored at 0.946956 on 2011-07-27T15:33:02+00:00 . Thank you. ClueBot NG (talk) 15:33, 27 July 2011 (UTC)

February 2014[edit]

Please stop your disruptive editing, as you did at Elevator. Your edits have been reverted or removed.

Do not continue to make edits that appear disruptive until the dispute is resolved through consensus. Continuing to edit disruptively may result in your being blocked from editing. Fraggle81 (talk) 16:57, 5 February 2014 (UTC)

If this is a shared IP address, and you did not make the edits, consider creating an account for yourself so you can avoid further irrelevant notices.

Comment regarding the preceding warning: The above warning was not the appropriate response concerning the nature and validity of your changes to the Elevator article. The first of your recent changes to that article Edit 590978343 on 16 January 2014 appears to consist solely of about forty-three changes from the term lift to elevator, which was a valid improvement in all but a few cases. Since it was brought to my attention last week, I have identified Stage lift, Orchestra lift, Boat lift, and Scissor lift as the exclusive universal term for those specific types. Aircraft lift (of one not in one) may belong in that list too. I will revert those myself shortly. The balance of the changes in your edit were correct.

There is a point of the policy appearing at the end of WP:RETAIN:WP:RETAINM (retain existing usage) that states:

An article should not be edited or renamed simply to switch from one valid use of English to another. Editors who alter an existing variety can be advised of this guideline via the placement of {{subst:uw-lang}} on their talk pages.

It is clear from the wording produced by the expansion of that template that your first edit did not violate that rule (and therefore did not warrant its specified warning, one that is much milder, almost positive, than your incorrectly received admonishment.

The alternating reversion of each other's reversion is less useful, as I am sure you can see, but that makes equally guilty parties of you both, and in consideration that your direction of change was towards conformance, no warning should have been placed here. Your courteous behaviour over the last month was noted. I hope this has not discouraged you from continuing to make constructive contributions. Unless you continue this upstart American nonsense. Hey. just kidding! I have spent close to three decades in each of the USA and the UK, living in California for 29 of the last 31 years, but I still always sat lift, without giving it any thought. At least we have established that the nameof the conveyance is lift in British English, and elevator in Americasn English when the device ismoving upwards. Both countries should have a different name for it when it is moving downwards. Best regards from ChrisJBenson (talk) 15:42, 10 February 2014 (UTC)

Information icon Hello and welcome to Wikipedia. When you add content to talk pages and Wikipedia pages that have open discussion (but never when editing articles), please be sure to sign your posts. There are two ways to do this. Either:

  1. Add four tildes ( ~~~~ ) at the end of your comment; or
  2. With the cursor positioned at the end of your comment, click on the signature button (Insert-signature.png or Button sig.png) located above the edit window.

This will automatically insert a signature with your username or IP address and the time you posted the comment. This information is necessary to allow other editors to easily see who wrote what and when.

Thank you. --SineBot (talk) 09:49, 9 October 2014 (UTC)
