May 2008[edit]

Information.svg Welcome to Wikipedia. Although everyone is welcome to contribute constructively to the encyclopedia, one or more of the external links you added to the page USA Today do not comply with our guidelines for external links and have been removed. Wikipedia is not a collection of links; nor should it be used for advertising or promotion. Since Wikipedia uses nofollow tags, external links do not alter search engine rankings. If you feel the link should be added to the article, please discuss it on the article's talk page before reinserting it. Please take a look at the welcome page to learn more about contributing to this encyclopedia.

Your edit here was reverted by an automated bot that attempts to remove unwanted links and spam from Wikipedia. If you were trying to insert a good link, please accept my creator's apologies, but note that the external link you added or changed is on my list of links to remove and probably shouldn't be included in Wikipedia.

The external links I reverted were matching the following regex rule(s): rule: '\bblogspot\.com' (link(s): http://gannettblog.blogspot.com/) . If the external link you inserted or changed was to a blog, forum, free web hosting service, or similar site, then please check the information on the external site thorougly. Note that such sites should probably not be linked to if they contain information that is in violation of the creators copyright (see Linking to copyrighted works), or they are not written by a recognised, reliable source. Linking to sites that you are involved with is also strongly discouraged (see conflict of interest).

Please read Wikipedia's external links guideline for more information, and consult my list of frequently-reverted sites. For more information about me, see my FAQ page. Thanks! XLinkBot (talk) 14:00, 9 May 2008 (UTC)

Information.svg Please do not add inappropriate external links to Wikipedia, as you did to The Arizona Republic. Wikipedia is not a collection of links, nor should it be used for advertising or promotion. Inappropriate links include (but are not limited to) links to personal web sites, links to web sites with which you are affiliated, and links that attract visitors to a web site or promote a product. See the external links guideline and spam guideline for further explanations. Since Wikipedia uses nofollow tags, external links do not alter search engine rankings. If you feel the link should be added to the article, please discuss it on the article's talk page rather than re-adding it.

Nuvola apps important.svg Please stop adding inappropriate external links to Wikipedia, as you did to The Indianapolis Star. It is considered spamming and Wikipedia is not a vehicle for advertising or promotion. Since Wikipedia uses nofollow tags, additions of links to Wikipedia will not alter search engine rankings. If you continue spamming, you will be blocked from editing Wikipedia.

Stop hand nuvola.svg This is the last warning you will receive for your disruptive edits.
The next time you insert a spam link, as you did to Detroit Free Press, you will be blocked from editing Wikipedia. Persistent spammers may have their websites blacklisted as well, preventing anyone from linking to them from all of Wikipedia.

Stop spamming usatoday.com links[edit]

Stop x nuvola with clock.svg
You have been temporarily blocked from editing in accordance with Wikipedia's blocking policy for continuing to add spam links. If you wish to make useful contributions, you are welcome to come back after the block expires. Persistent spammers will have their websites blacklisted from Wikipedia and potentially penalized by search engines. If you believe this block is unjustified, you may contest the block by adding the text {{unblock|your reason here}} below.

As we have pointed out repeatedly above, while others may add usatoday.com links, USA Today employees may not. It's a conflict of interest.

See our Conflict of Interest and Spam Guidelines. I would think journalists of all people would understand the concept, "conflict of interest"! --A. B. (talkcontribs) 14:27, 6 June 2008 (UTC)

Note:I have just removed about 3 dozen spam links that were missed by previous editors, leaving a few that actually were the best appropriate source of information, converting some of them into references. I do not want to have to do it again.DGG (talk) 22:28, 11 June 2008 (UTC)

Request reason:

This is a shared ip address, and the block is affecting multiple users at Gannett and USA TODAY who would like to contribute to Wikipedia. You can keep the block on anonymous editing enabled, but we would like to request that you lift the block on account creation. We are willing to work with you to educate any of our users who are not following Wikipedia policies so we can continue to use this service. Thank you.

Decline reason:

If you would like to create an account, please see the instructions at WP:ACC. There are instructions there for requesting that an account be created for you in situations exactly like this; e.g. you have a shared IP address which has been blocked for abuse of the encyclopedia. There are two methods on that page; a webform using CAPTCHA and an email list; you may use either method. Once an account is created for you, you will be emailed with the password and other account details. Then you may edit freely using that account from this IP address. — Jayron32.talk.contribs 02:54, 17 July 2008 (UTC)

If you want to make any further unblock requests, please read the guide to appealing blocks first and then use the {{unblock}} template again. If you make too many unconvincing or disruptive unblock requests, you may be prevented from editing this page for as long as you are blocked.

Welcome to Wikipedia. Everyone is welcome to contribute to the encyclopedia, but when you add or change content, as you did to the article Division by zero, please cite a reliable source for your addition. This helps maintain our policy of verifiability. See Wikipedia:Citing sources for how to cite sources, and the welcome page to learn more about contributing to this encyclopedia. Thank you. - DVdm (talk) 13:36, 19 June 2012 (UTC)
