[edit] Your recent edits

Information.svg Hello. In case you didn't know, when you add content to talk pages and Wikipedia pages that have open discussion, you should sign your posts by typing four tildes ( ~~~~ ) at the end of your comment. You may also click on the signature button Insert-signature.png located above the edit window. This will automatically insert a signature with your username or IP address and the time you posted the comment. This information is useful because other editors will be able to tell who said what, and when. Thank you. --SineBot (talk) 06:28, 16 June 2010 (UTC)

[edit] July 2010

Information.svg Welcome to Wikipedia. It might not have been your intention, but your recent edit removed content from Norman Ebbutt. When removing text, please specify a reason in the edit summary and discuss edits that are likely to be controversial on the article's talk page. If this was a mistake, don't worry; the text has been restored, as you can see from the page history. Take a look at the welcome page to learn more about contributing to this encyclopedia, and if you would like to experiment, please use the sandbox. Thank you. Ronk01 talk, 06:43, 21 July 2010 (UTC)

If this is a shared IP address, and you didn't make the edit, consider creating an account for yourself so you can avoid further irrelevant notices.

Information.svg Welcome to Wikipedia. We welcome and appreciate your contributions, including your edits to Adelaide, but we cannot accept original research. Editing by unregistered users from your shared IP address or address range may be currently disabled. Registered users, however, are still able to edit. If you are currently blocked from creating an account, you may use this form to request a username. Alternatively, you may email us with your preferred username. Either way, use an email address issued to you by your ISP, school or organization so that we may verify that you are a legitimate user on this network. If using the form, please reference this block in the comment section.

Please check on this list that the username you choose has not already been taken. We apologize for any inconvenience.

{{unblock|I can understand that a proxy serving many users may be a good reason for a block, but please, for crying out loud, give a reason for the block. Currently this IP is blocked with "no reason given" which is the most frustrating part of this issue. Don't silently punish the rest of us here for someone else's behaviour - at least recognise that there could be many legitimate and well meaning users here that will be affected by the block, and do us the very basic courtesy of providing a reason for it. Thanks.}}

You're correct that it would have been better if a specific reason had been spelled out, but don't you think it's rather obvious? Are we both looking at the same page? Look above this request at the numerous vandalism warnings and you have your answer. See also the notice providing how to edit by filling out a form to create an account.--Fuhghettaboutit (talk) 04:42, 27 August 2010 (UTC)

Request reason:

That's not a particularly helpful answer. This page is not the one that is displayed when someone tries to edit an article, and so does nothing to immediately alleviate the angst caused by the block. This page is only seen when attempting to have the block removed. The point is still that while a block is frustrating, a block without a reason is far, far worse, and could easily be avoided with a few words of explanation. P.S. if I shouldn't be using an unblock request to continue this, I apologise. I can't use a talk page because I'm blocked(!) and I have no idea whether the member I'm replying to will be notified of a plain text reply or not? P.P.S. I'd like to quote Wikipedia blocking policy, as per the Blocking Policy page: == Explanation of blocks == Blocking is a serious matter. The community expects that blocks will be made with good reasons only, based upon reviewable evidence and reasonable judgment, and that all factors that support a block are subject to independent peer review if requested. === Notifying the blocked user === Administrators must supply a clear and specific block reason which indicates why a user was blocked. Block reasons should avoid the use of jargon as much as possible so that blocked users may better understand them. Administrators should also notify users when blocking them by leaving a message on their user talk page unless they have a good reason not to. It is often easier to explain the reason for a block at the time than it is to explain a block well after the fact. When implementing a block, a number of pro forma block reasons are available in a drop-down menu; other or additional reasons can also be added. Users can be notified of blocks and block reasons using a number of convenient template messages—see Category:User block templates and Wikipedia:Template messages/User talk namespace.

Decline reason:

This IP address has been a near constant source of vandalism, personal attacks against users, and other disruption. It appears to be a shared IP address, such that occasionally, every few weeks or months, someone actually makes a good edit from it. However, on the balance, it appears that blocking this address was clearly necessary to stop the almost constant stream of disruption and vandalism coming from it. However, the block has been set to ONLY affect users who are not logged in. You are free to create an account, and then this block will no longer affect you. The history of problems can be seen from this IP's block log which shows over 20 blocks of varying lengths over the past 5 years. Indeed, considering the times when it hasn't been blocked, this IP address rarely goes more than a few days without vandalizing Wikipedia. Understand, this has nothing to do with you as a person. If you wish to edit Wikipedia articles, you may create an account. Jayron32 06:21, 27 August 2010 (UTC)

If you want to make any further unblock requests, please read the guide to appealing blocks first and then use the {{unblock}} template again. If you abuse this procedure by making too many unconvincing or disruptive unblock requests, you may be prevented from editing this page as long as you are blocked.

Note: you can edit your own talk page while blocked (usually), and anyone watching your page will be able to see you've edited it. Please only use unblock requests to request unblocking. By the way, you are aware that you can solve this issue by registering a username? Exploding Boy (talk) 06:19, 27 August 2010 (UTC)

Hello, and welcome to Wikipedia. Although everyone is welcome to contribute to Wikipedia, at least one of your recent edits, such as the one you made to Martyn Poliakoff with this edit, did not appear to be constructive, and has been reverted or removed. Please use the sandbox for any test edits you would like to make, and read the welcome page to learn more about contributing constructively to this encyclopedia. Thank you. [edit] October 2011

Welcome to Wikipedia. Although everyone is welcome to contribute constructively to the encyclopedia, there is a Manual of Style that should be followed to maintain a consistent, encyclopedic appearance. Using different styles throughout the encyclopedia, as you did in Australian Magpie, makes it harder to read. Please take a look at the welcome page to learn more about contributing to this encyclopedia. Thank you. Tbhotch. Grammatically incorrect? Correct it! See terms and conditions. 21:22, 4 October 2011 (UTC)

Please do not use styles that are unusual, inappropriate or difficult to understand in articles, as you did in Australian Magpie. There is a Manual of Style, and edits should not deliberately go against it without special reason. Thank you. Tbhotch. Grammatically incorrect? Correct it! See terms and conditions. 05:31, 11 October 2011 (UTC)

Please stop your disruptive editing. If you continue to use disruptive, inappropriate or hard-to-read formatting, as you did at Australian Magpie, you may be blocked from editing. There is a Wikipedia Manual of Style, and edits should not deliberately go against it without special reason. Tbhotch. Grammatically incorrect? Correct it! See terms and conditions. 04:21, 21 October 2011 (UTC)

You currently appear to be engaged in an edit war according to the reverts you have made on Australian Magpie. Users are expected to collaborate with others, to avoid editing disruptively, and to try to reach a consensus rather than repeatedly undoing other users' edits once it is known that there is a disagreement.

Please be particularly aware, Wikipedia's policy on edit warring states:

  1. Edit warring is disruptive regardless of how many reverts you have made; that is to say, editors are not automatically "entitled" to three reverts.
  2. Do not edit war even if you believe you are right.

If you find yourself in an editing dispute, use the article's talk page to discuss controversial changes; work towards a version that represents consensus among editors. You can post a request for help at an appropriate noticeboard or seek dispute resolution. In some cases it may be appropriate to request temporary page protection. If you engage in an edit war, you may be blocked from editing. Bidgee (talk) 04:30, 21 October 2011 (UTC)

This is your only warning; if you vandalize Wikipedia again, as you did at Carlos Santana, you may be blocked from editing without further notice. --Bongwarrior (talk) 07:11, 26 October 2011 (UTC)

Anonymous users from this IP address have been blocked temporarily from editing for abuse of editing privileges. If you have a registered Wikipedia username, you may log in and continue to edit. Otherwise, once the block has expired, you are welcome to make useful contributions. If you would like to be unblocked, you may appeal this block by adding the text {{unblock|reason=Your reason here ~~~~}}, but you should read the guide to appealing blocks first. --Bongwarrior (talk) 07:27, 26 October 2011 (UTC)

Hello and welcome to Wikipedia! I edit too, under the username Calabe1992. I noticed that you recently added an external link that may have been inappropriate according to our guidelines about linking to other websites. Wikipedia is an encyclopedia written by people like you and me, not a web directory, so we try to make sure articles link to only a few important sites. If you have any questions, please feel free to ask me on my talk page. Thanks, Calabe1992 (talk) 05:58, 31 October 2011 (UTC)

[edit] November 2011

Hello and welcome! I edit Wikipedia too, under the username Calabe1992. Wikipedia is written by people like you and me, so thank you for taking the time to participate. I wanted to let you know that I undid one of your recent contributions, such as the one you made to Staring contest with this edit, because it didn’t appear constructive to me. If you think I made a mistake, or if you have any questions about editing, you can leave me a message on my talk page. Thanks! Calabe1992 06:19, 30 November 2011 (UTC)

Please do not attack other editors, as you did at Staring contest with this edit. Comment on content, not on contributors. Personal attacks damage the community and deter users. Please stay cool and keep this in mind while editing. Thank you, Calabe1992 06:25, 30 November 2011 (UTC)
