A referendum on the Annan Plan was held in the Republic of Cyprus and the breakaway Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus on 24 April 2004. The two communities were asked whether they approved of the fifth revision of the United Nations proposal for reuniting the island, which had been divided since 1974. Whilst it was approved by 65% of Turkish Cypriots, it was rejected by 76% of Greek Cypriots. Turnout for the referendum was high at 89% amongst Greek Cypriots and 87% amongst Turkish Cypriots, which was taken as indicative of great interest in the issue on the part of the electorates.

Occupation of Smyrna

In this edit you hold that an occupation, taking place in 1919, was in keeping with the provisions of a treaty signed in 1920; that is rather weird and, furthermore, considering the material you removed, it appears to be POV-pushing. You may of course add that the Greeks held that the occupation was justified under the terms of the Armistice of Mudros, but you should not try to paint the occupation as if it was entirely uncontroversial, which it was not. Hi Salvio, thanks for your message duly noted, but i disagree with what you said the edit does. The article says "occupation" ended in 1922. However the provisions of the Treaty of Sèvres signed in 1920, state that Smyrna was to be administered by a local parliament in a Greek zone. When User E4024 removed from the article the statement reading "and the provisions of the Treaty of Sèvres in 1920" I saw that it was silencing the fact that there is a treaty under which this "occupation" was recognized by Turkey at least from 1920 onwards. I think to rectify this, we must amend the occupation "From" - "To" date. It should read something like this: "It was occupied in 1919, and in 1920 the occupation ended with the signing of a Treaty". Speaking as an editor, I agree that the signing of the 1920 treaty should indeed be mentioned — I'm not sure whether it belongs in the lead, however, but this is a matter of editorial discretion —; that said, we really should be moving this discussion to the article's talk page... Treaty of Guarantee (1960)

In what way you claim is "unsourced pov", the Treaty of Guarantee stated the phrase "current state of affairs", which refers to Zürich and London Agreement. It not only guarantee independence of the island but also a confessional, consociational democracy. The Greek-Junta-backed coup threaten this consociational democracy.

How can u claim it is unsourced, it is right in the treaty and agreement, and how can u claim it is pov. I'm making npov according to these treaty and agreement. Pls talk to me before u undid anyhow.Tantingting (talk) 15:43, 11 November 2012 (UTC)
