Welcome[edit]

Hello, and welcome to Wikipedia! Thank you for your contributions, especially what you did for Womyn. I hope you like the place and decide to stay. Here are a few good links for newcomers:

Here are some other hints and tips:

  • I recommend that you get a username. You don't have to log in to read or edit articles on Wikipedia, but creating an account is quick, free and non-intrusive, requires no personal information, and there are many benefits of having a username. (If you edit without a username, your IP address is used to identify you instead.)
  • When using talk pages, please sign your name at the end of your messages by typing four tildes (~~~~). This will automatically produce your username (or IP address) and the date.

If you have any questions, check out Wikipedia:Where to ask a question, ask me on my talk page, or type {{helpme}} on this talk page and a user will help you as soon as possible. I will try to answer your questions as best as I can. Again, welcome, and I hope you enjoy editing here and being a Wikipedian. WarFox (talk | contribs) 11:22, 4 December 2010 (UTC)

Egyptian race conteroversy[edit]

"On one side of the controversy, the possibility that black Africans oversaw the development of Egyptian civilization is discounted in favor of hypothetical outsiders. On the other side, ancient Egypt is portrayed as a highly advanced black African civilization." This is not a summary of the differing viewpoints. Firstly, dynastic race theory was based on archaological evidence of cultural influence. It did not necesarily imply a "black" / "white" racial distinction. Secondly, the opening of your sentence implies the spurious claim that indigenous Egyptians have to be "black Africans". There is no reason to suppose this at all. Commodity Fetishism[edit]

Hi, if you mean the photo of the market, I do not have any objection - Marx writes of markets and this is a very generic image of a market so I do not think it is making any argument, simply illustrating i.e descriptive, so I have no objection, Slrubenstein | Talk 11:49, 11 January 2012 (UTC)

September 2012[edit]

Hello, I'm Jschnur. I noticed that you made a change to an article, National Youth Service (Zimbabwe), but you didn't provide a source. I’ve removed it for now, but if you’d like to include a citation to a reliable source and re-add it, please do so! If you think I made a mistake, or if you have any questions, you can leave me a message on my talk page. Thanks, Jschnur (talk) 07:39, 15 September 2012 (UTC)

Naming conventions in articles[edit]

Referring to people (real or fictional) in article prose should always be done by surname when possible (when using Western names); in the case of Eraserhead, "Spencer" and "X" are perfectly fine. There's no need to differentiate different Spencers and Xs as no other character is referred to by those names (X's parents are not named). An example of when a forename might work better would be, say, Manhunter, when main character Will Graham is referred to throughout as "Graham" but his wife, who is mentioned much less often, is simply "Molly" after the first use to avoid confusion. When this confusion is not present, simply defer to the manual of style rules at WP:SURNAME for how to phrase things. GRAPPLE X 20:46, 24 September 2012 (UTC)

Thomas Mesereau[edit]

I removed parts of your addition to Thomas Mesereau for reasons explained in my edit summaries. You reverted my removal without explanation. You boldly added text. It was reverted. Next, discuss it. Re-adding the text without addressing concerns expressed about the text is not productive. I'll wait a bit for your response. If you do not respond, I will assume you agree with my reasoning and will remove it again. Thanks. - SummerPhD (talk) 01:28, 4 October 2012 (UTC)

Militia[edit]

Information.svg Please refrain from making unconstructive edits to Wikipedia. Your edit to Militia simply blanking the section on Venezuela is not helpful and has been reverted. If you would like to change the text with more accurate information from reliable sources, and cite the references, you may do so. If you wish to experiment, please use the sandbox. October 2012[edit]

Information.svg Please refrain from making unconstructive edits to Wikipedia. Your edit to Adam Weishaupt, blanking of major portion of content, constitutes vandalism and has been reverted. If you would like to experiment, please use the sandbox. Thank you. Donner60 (talk) 03:05, 15 October 2012 (UTC)

I'm not experimenting. See User talk:Anoot7. 24.22.217.162 (talk) 03:08, 15 October 2012 (UTC)
I acknowledge that your edit may have been in good faith. I am not sure that the removal of the text and move of quotes to wikiquotes is proper but that should be further considered on the merits. I concluded the edit was vandalism because the explanation in the summary did not carry over to the article, in other words, there was no reference to wikiquotes in the article to find the quotes from Weishaupt which had been in the article. A further look should be given to whether this material is properly in the article or whether your change is a better way to approach this and to include them. I accept your reason for this not being vandalism and I am sorry for any inconvenience or upset for characterizing it that way. Donner60 (talk) 03:16, 15 October 2012 (UTC)

St. Bernard[edit]

Sorry about that; it was another IP I was referring to, not you. Your edit looks fine. The Blade of the Northern Lights (話して下さい) 12:45, 26 October 2012 (UTC)
