Haiti actually occupies "three-eights" of the total island, not a "third." The total area of Hispanola is 76480 sq. Haiti (27750) / 76480 = .363 which is closer to 3/8 or .375 than being a "third" .333. Therefore, the Dominican Republic (.637) as well has a closer total area of .625 or "five-eighths" and not 2/3 or .667. Thanks Savvyjack23 (talk) 07:19, 2 January 2014 (UTC)
