August 2013[edit]

Information icon Please refrain from making unconstructive edits to Wikipedia, as you did at Amy Grant. Your edits appear to be disruptive and have been reverted or removed.

  • If you are engaged in an article content dispute with another editor then please discuss the matter with the editor at their talk page, or the article's talk page. Alternatively you can read Wikipedia's dispute resolution page, and ask for independent help at one of the relevant notice boards.
  • If you are engaged in any other form of dispute that is not covered on the dispute resolution page, please seek assistance at Wikipedia's Administrators' noticeboard/Incidents.

Please ensure you are familiar with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines, and please do not continue to make edits that appear disruptive, until the dispute is resolved through consensus. Continuing to edit disruptively could result in loss of editing privileges. Thank you. Please read WP:OVERLINK before adding links to countries. And then read WP:NUMERO. By following these formatting guidelines, you may yet become a good editor. Walter Görlitz (talk) 21:39, 20 August 2013 (UTC)

Please stop your disruptive editing, as you did at Edward J. Flanagan. Your edits have been reverted or removed.

Do not continue to make edits that appear disruptive until the dispute is resolved through consensus. Continuing to edit disruptively may result in your being blocked from editing. Again, WP:OVERLINK and please start to explain your changes. Walter Görlitz (talk) 21:40, 20 August 2013 (UTC)

These are the guidelines you may want to read:

I'm sorry if our editing is conflicting with your preferences. If you continue to disrupt Wikipedia, you will likely be blocked from editing. Walter Görlitz (talk) 21:44, 20 August 2013 (UTC)

Stop icon This is your last warning. The next time you vandalize Wikipedia, as you did at Edward J. Flanagan, you may be blocked from editing without further notice. Walter Görlitz (talk) 21:45, 20 August 2013 (UTC)

  • I am one of the best editors on Wikipedia. I do not appreciate having my edits being labeled "unconstructive". I write and speak English better than 99.9% of the world's English-speaking population. I am very familiar with Wikipedia-wide formatting and only make constructive and acceptable changes.
  • Additionally, I have corrected many grammatical and factual errors in both the Father Flanagan and Amy Grant articles.
You have added incorrect formatting per WP:OVERLINK, WP:NUMERO and WP:INFOBOXFLAG to the Amy Grant article. I am not changing any factual information on either the Father Flanagan and Amy Grant articles. Thank you. Walter Görlitz (talk) 21:55, 20 August 2013 (UTC)
What factual errors are you correcting here?
I see you linking to United States and piping to US and American which is against WP:OVERLINK: "In particular, unless they are particularly relevant to the topic of the article, the following are not usually linked: the names of major geographic features and locations". The United States is not particularly relevant to the topic of Amy Grant.
I see you changing No. to # which is against WP:NUMERO: "Avoid using the # symbol (known as the number sign, hash sign, or pound sign) when referring to numbers or rankings. Instead use the word 'number', or the abbreviation 'No.".
So I'm sorry that you were careful in making these edits, they are not in accordance with guidelines and manuals of style on English Wikipedia. Walter Görlitz (talk) 22:01, 20 August 2013 (UTC)
Also, per the documentation at Template:Infobox musical artist
  • Background parameters are lower case. You changed it to upper case. It still works, but a bot would change that back.
  • Occupation is to be in sentence case, not separated by line breaks as you have done. No bot will fix that.
  • "Genres should be separated with a comma delimiter... Note: most genres are not proper nouns and should not be capitalized. However, the first word in a list of multiple genres should be capitalized." You capitalized them and removed the commas and inserted new lines.
  • Instruments: "Separate multiple entries with commas". You were adding breaks.
  • Labels: "Separate multiple entries with commas. Start with the oldest first." You were adding breaks and the order isn't clear. She was first signed to Myrrh, then A&M signed a co-distribution deal. Then Word absorbed its former imprint (Myrrh) and distributed her material. Most recently Sparrow has been distributing her albums.
  • associated_acts: "Separate multiple entries with commas.". Again you added breaks. I'm not certain why you moved Smith to second. I'm not sure why Gill is first. It should really be Chapman, Smith and then Gill as that is the order of association.
I have already touched on the OVERLINK and NUMERO issues you introduced so there's no need to detail them here.
If you want to discuss and be mentored, I would be happy to work with you to really turn you into one of the best editors on English Wikipedia. Walter Görlitz (talk) 22:18, 20 August 2013 (UTC)
