Kabul University[edit]

You said that the basis for your edit to the name of Kabul University was that "the sign changed Monday." Can you site to a newspaper story or to an official document? --Bejnar (talk) 23:57, 27 November 2008 (UTC)

  • You made this edit before. That was before last Monday (Nov. 24th). What is the story? --Bejnar (talk) 00:00, 28 November 2008 (UTC)

Ethnicity - read talk pages[edit]

Nuvola apps important.svg Before making changes to the ethnicity statements in articles, please read their talk pages. You have made a number of edits that are similar to those made by Anoshirawan, for example citing to ""Professor Enayatullah Shahrani (Dean of the Fine Arts Faculty of Kabul University) (1999) Bazmeh Ghazal " in the Abdul Rahim Sarban article. In many cases these edits have been previously discussed on the talk page, and the reason for their rejection has been made plain. In all cases, where ethnicity is an issue, it should be discussed on the talk page first and a consensus reached, before changing the article. Do not insert or reinsert ethnic data into articles without proper citation to published source material which is reliable and verifiable. Ethnic data is inherently controversial. (WikiProject Ethnic groups says: "Let's be clear: ethnicity is a minefield.") "All material that is challenged or likely to be challenged needs a source." and "Biographies of living persons should be sourced with particular care, for legal and ethical reasons. All contentious material about living persons must cite a reliable source." Wikipedia:Citing sources. That article goes on to say, "If you find unsourced or poorly sourced contentious material about a living person—whether in an article or on a talk page—remove it immediately." (emphasis in original). Definitely, once ethnic data is removed or contested by another editor it must be properly sourced before reintroduction. Additionally, "Ethnicity should generally not be emphasized in the opening unless it is relevant to the subject's notability." Wikipedia:Manual of Style (biographies)#Opening paragraph Lastly, please note that ethnicity and nationality are not the same thing. A number of your edits have changed nationality to ethnicity. Please exercise caution when dealing with ethnicity. --Bejnar (talk) 19:19, 17 January 2009 (UTC)

January 2009[edit]

  1. Information.png Welcome to Wikipedia. The recent edit you made to Khalilullah Khalili has been reverted, as it appears to have removed content from the page without explanation. Use the sandbox for testing; if you believe the edit was constructive, please ensure that you provide an informative edit summary. You may also wish to read the introduction to editing. Thank you. Chasingsol(talk) 10:05, 23 January 2009 (UTC)
  2. In your, or someone using this IP, edits of 16 January 2009 to the article Khalilullah Khalili sources (footnotes) were removed and an "unsourced" template was added to the article. Afghan Relief is usually considered an appropriate (if a better is not available) source, as is Afghan Magazine. --Bejnar (talk) 21:35, 17 January 2009 (UTC)
  3. Nuvola apps important.svg You currently appear to be engaged in an edit war according to the reverts you have made on Khalilullah Khalili. This is your second warning. This behaviour, if continued, will get this IP blocked from editing Wikipedia. --Bejnar (talk) 15:25, 23 January 2009 (UTC)

Criticism of Pashtuns[edit]

Please do not add or delete this section from the Khushal Khan Khattak article until a consensus is reached on the talk page. To do so would be to engage in edit warring. --Bejnar (talk) 23:26, 17 January 2009 (UTC)

please avoid edit war[edit]

Nuvola apps important.svg You currently appear to be engaged in an edit war according to the reverts you have made on Beltoon. Note that the three-revert rule prohibits making more than three reversions on a single page within a 24 hour period. Additionally, users who perform a large number of reversions in content disputes may be blocked for edit warring, even if they do not technically violate the three-revert rule. If you continue, you may be blocked from editing. Please do not repeatedly revert edits, but use the talk page to work towards wording and content that gains a consensus among editors. If necessary, pursue dispute resolution. Kingturtle (talk) 15:00, 20 January 2009 (UTC)

Unverifiable citation[edit]

"Professor Enayatullah Shahrani (Dean of the Fine Arts Faculty of Kabul University) (1999). Bazmeh Ghazal" is an unverifiable citation, see Talk:Ahmad Zahir#Bad citation. You made an edit to the Abdul Rahim Sarban article on 22 January 2009 where you used this citation to support your statement about ethnicity. On the talk page for Abdul Rahim Sarban there is a section entitled /* Ethnicity */ which has been there since 20 January 2008. It is hard to miss. That section clearly states the problem with your proposed citation. Nuvola apps important.svg You are warned a second time that ethnicity edits are a minefield and need to be properly supported. Either provide reliable, verifiable citations or do not make edits to ethnicity. Continuing to make such edits will constitute grounds for having this IP blocked. You have also had previous edits reverted that attempted to use that citation, reversions with edit summaries that indicated the verifiability problem. --Bejnar (talk) 05:59, 22 January 2009 (UTC)

Tajik[edit]

I notice you are changing a lot of poeple from Afghan to Tajik. Please ensure that these changes are sourced and relevant.Rich Farmbrough, 10:15 23 January 2009 (UTC).

There is no source that those people are Afghan also. If you want me to stop then we should take out Afghan also and we should only state that he/her was from Afghanistan. Afghan is a controversial identity that will cause for problems if editors keep claiming everyone from Afghanistan "Afghan".--71.107.11.87 (talk) 10:17, 23 January 2009 (UTC)

There has been a long discussion about the use of the word Afghan in English. The consensus is that Afghan is a national term and not an ethnic term in English. In other languages there may or may not be a problem, but there is not a problem in English according to the consensus reached on Wikipedia. Nuvola apps important.svg So, don't make ethnicity statements, don't change Afghan to Tajik, don't delete categories with the word "Afghan" in then, etc., without sources. Period. Read the talk pages for Afghanistan including archives. If you want to refer to a Pathan, a Pashtun, a Hazara, you also need sources. Always discuss ethnicity edits on the talk page in advance if your proposed citations are not rock-solid, or if there is the slightest chance of controversy. --15:04, 23 January 2009 (UTC)

Repeated disruption[edit]

Nuvola apps important.svg You, and everyone else using this IP, has been warned about the problems associated with the citation to "Professor Enayatullah Shahrani (Dean of the Fine Arts Faculty of Kabul University) (1999). Bazmeh Ghazal." No verifiability has been provided for this site, much less reliability. See above under /* Unverifiable citation */. You have continued to use this citation, see here on 23 January for example. Please cease these types of edits until you understand and comply with Wikipedia policy. These edits are disruptive. --Bejnar (talk) 18:12, 24 January 2009 (UTC)

Muhammad of Ghor[edit]

Muhammad of Ghor as Tajik is not sourced. His unknown ethnicity is sourced. The assumption is that he was Eastern Iranian, the largest extant Eastern Iranian group is the Pashtuns, but as this was before the Mongol Empire, Ilkhanate (1225–1335), the best assumption is simply that he was Eastern Iranian. Read the cited source! Also, don't just restore old versions, you have restore grammar problems, spelling problems and disambiguation problems that have been fixed since the old version that you restored on 20 February 2009. --Bejnar (talk) 20:24, 20 February 2009 (UTC)

Encyclopedia of Iranica says ". . . The Ghurids came from the Šansabānī family. The name of the eponym Šansab/Šanasb probably derives from the Middle Persian name Wišnasp (Justi, Namenbuch, p. 282). . . . The chiefs of Ḡūr only achieve firm historical mention in the early 5th/11th century with the Ghaznavid raids into their land, when Ḡūr was still a pagan enclave. Nor do we know anything about the ethnic stock of the Ḡūrīs in general and the Šansabānīs in particular; we can only assume that they were eastern Iranian Tajiks."

It says Eastern Iranian Tajiks not only Eastern Iranian.--71.107.11.87 (talk) 22:21, 20 February 2009 (UTC)

It says we know nothing about the ethnic stock. --Bejnar (talk) 05:20, 23 February 2009 (UTC)

  • Nuvola apps important.svg Please do not restore "old versions" of articles which ignore the validity of intervening edits as you did with the Khushal Khan Khattak article on 23 May 2009. Quoting or not quoting the poem has been discussed on the article's talk page, and the edits or a variety of editors from January through March of 2009 are pretty united in omitting it. Your restoration of the old version also eliminated the specific requests for citation that were added in May as well as restoring the incorrect interwiki address for the Russian article. Additionally, this article is not about poetry and that category is not useful. Please see Wikipedia:Disruptive editing. --Bejnar (talk) 17:52, 23 May 2009 (UTC)
