Cliff Burton[edit]

GA nomination on hold. Dihydrogen Monoxide 02:08, 10 December 2007 (UTC)

Congrats on the GA. By the way, might I recommend archiving this page. If you don't know how, you can ask me to do it for you.
Thank you,
Skeeker [Talk] 03:48, 10 December 2007 (UTC)
I just would like to ask, are you going to work on promoting Cliff Burton to FA? Also would you mind commenting on Wikipedia:Featured article candidates/Alice in Chains. If you don't know what you are doing (I mean no offence if you do) but here are examples of what to put.
  • Support Well written, accurate, well sourced. ~~~~
  • Oppose Un-accurate, un-nuetral, un-sourced. ~~~~
And add other stuff as you please. If you don' review that is just fine, I think I probably have enough supporting now. Thank you,

Burningclean [Speak the truth!] 03:41, 5 January 2008 (UTC)

That is okay, thank you though. Are you working on anything else for GA or FA? Burningclean [Speak the truth!] 03:59, 5 January 2008 (UTC)
I'd suggest a peer review for Primal Scream first. There are some minor issues, but there are a lot of them. Delinking the red wlinks would probably help, and I might suggest converting the band template to Template:Navbox Musical artist. Burningclean [Speak the truth!] 04:08, 5 January 2008 (UTC)

Archiving[edit]

All taken care of.
Thank you,

Orphaned non-free media (Image:Jtaylor.jpg)[edit]

Nuvola apps important blue.svg Thanks for uploading Image:Jtaylor.jpg. The media description page currently specifies that it is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, it is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the media was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that media for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that all non-free media not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. BetacommandBot (talk) 15:05, 22 December 2007 (UTC)

Disputed fair use rationale for Image:SRV2.jpg[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:SRV2.jpg. However, there is a concern that the rationale you have provided for using this image under "fair use" may be invalid. Please read the instructions at Wikipedia:Non-free content carefully, then go to the image description page and clarify why you think the image qualifies for fair use. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If it is determined that the image does not qualify under fair use, it will be deleted within a couple of days according to our criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thank you. —Angr If you've written a quality article... 11:31, 29 December 2007 (UTC)

Replaceable fair use Image:Wolodarsky.jpg[edit]

Replaceable fair use

Thanks for uploading Image:Wolodarsky.jpg. I noticed the description page specifies that the media is being used under fair use, but its use in Wikipedia articles fails our first fair use criterion in that it illustrates a subject for which a freely licensed media could reasonably be found or created that provides substantially the same information. If you believe this media is not replaceable, please:

  1. Go to the media description page and edit it to add {{di-replaceable fair use disputed}}, without deleting the original Replaceable fair use template.
  2. On the image discussion page, write the reason why this image is not replaceable at all.

Alternatively, you can also choose to replace the fair use media by finding freely licensed media of the same subject, requesting that the copyright holder release this (or similar) media under a free license, or by taking a picture of it yourself.

If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified how these images fully satisfy our fair use criteria. You can find a list of description pages you have edited by clicking on this link. Note that even if you follow steps 1 and 2 above, fair use media which could be replaced by free-licensed alternatives will be deleted 2 days after this notification (7 days if not used in an article), per our Fair Use policy. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Garion96 (talk) 22:05, 9 January 2008 (UTC)

The Clash article[edit]

Hi, you have done a really good job on that article. Thank you very much. Unfortunately, you have also deleted a citing template ({{Cite web}}) that was after the line: You're great,” they told him, “but your group is shite. It is a source that is used in other parts of the article, so its deletion did a "Cite error" in the References section. First, I newly added the lines for "All The Young Punks", but I was wrong because the template wasn't there. Then, I've adjusted that problem. Thank you again. —PJoe F. Human Highway (album)[edit]

Nuvola apps important yellow.svg

A proposed deletion template has been added to the article Human Highway (album), suggesting that it be deleted according to the proposed deletion process. All contributions are appreciated, but this article may not satisfy Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and the deletion notice should explain why (see also "What Wikipedia is not" and Wikipedia's deletion policy). You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{dated prod}} notice, but please explain why you disagree with the proposed deletion in your edit summary or on its talk page. Also, please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Even though removing the deletion notice will prevent deletion through the proposed deletion process, the article may still be deleted if it matches any of the speedy deletion criteria or it can be sent to Articles for Deletion, where it may be deleted if consensus to delete is reached. If you agree with the deletion of the article, and you are the only person who has made substantial edits to the page, please add {{db-author}} to the top of Human Highway (album). Disputed fair use rationale for Image:Mh-brothersbig.jpg[edit]

Thank you for uploading Image:Mh-brothersbig.jpg. However, there is a concern that the rationale provided for using this image under "fair use" may not meet the criteria required by Wikipedia:Non-free content. This can be corrected by going to the image description page and add or clarify the reason why the image qualifies for fair use. Adding and completing one of the templates available from Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy. Please be aware that a fair use rationale is not the same as an image copyright tag; descriptions for images used under the fair use policy require both a copyright tag and a fair use rationale.

If it is determined that the image does not qualify under fair use, it might be deleted by adminstrator within a few days in accordance with our criteria for speedy deletion. Replaceable fair use Image:Lovebattery.jpg[edit]

Replaceable fair use

Thanks for uploading Image:Lovebattery.jpg. I noticed the description page specifies that the media is being used under a claim of fair use, but its use in Wikipedia articles fails our first non-free content criterion in that it illustrates a subject for which a freely licensed media could reasonably be found or created that provides substantially the same information. If you believe this media is not replaceable, please:

  1. Go to the media description page and edit it to add {{di-replaceable fair use disputed}}, without deleting the original replaceable fair use template.
  2. On the image discussion page, write the reason why this image is not replaceable at all.

Alternatively, you can also choose to replace this non-free media by finding freely licensed media of the same subject, requesting that the copyright holder release this (or similar) media under a free license, or by taking a picture of it yourself.

If you have uploaded other non-free media, consider checking that you have specified how these images fully satisfy our non-free content criteria. You can find a list of description pages you have edited by clicking on this link. Note that even if you follow steps 1 and 2 above, non-free media which could be replaced by freely licensed alternatives will be deleted 2 days after this notification (7 days if uploaded before 13 July 2006), per our non-free content policy. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Rettetast (talk) 11:48, 12 April 2008 (UTC)

Orphaned non-free media (Image:Janes addiction.JPG)[edit]

Nuvola apps important blue.svg Thanks for uploading Image:Janes addiction.JPG.

Thank you. BJBot (talk) 12:03, 24 April 2008 (UTC)

Fair use rationale for Image:Motherlovebone.jpg[edit]

Thanks for uploading or contributing to Image:Motherlovebone.jpg. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is not a suitable explanation or rationale as to why each specific use in Wikipedia constitutes fair use. Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale.

If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free media lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. J Milburn (talk) 18:41, 24 April 2008 (UTC)

Image:Syd.jpg[edit]

I removed this image from Syd Barrett because it is replaceable by a free license image, which exists at Image:Threatened by shadows at night (187465667).jpg and depicts Syd in the same time period, thus capturing the look before he gained a bunch of weight and shaved all his hair. I've tagged the image as orphaned and replaceable. --Hammersoft (talk) 19:02, 1 May 2008 (UTC)

Speedy deletion of Image:Zakstarkey.jpg[edit]

Nuvola apps important.svg

A tag has been placed on Image:Zakstarkey.jpg requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section I3 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because it is an image licensed as "for non-commercial use only," "non-derivative use" or "used with permission," it has not been shown to comply with the limited standards for the use of non-free content. [1], and it was either uploaded on or after 2005-05-19, or is not used in any articles. If you agree with the deletion, there is no need to do anything. If, however, you believe that this image may be retained on Wikipedia under one of the permitted conditions then:

  • state clearly the source of the image. If it has been copied from elsewhere on the web you should provide links to: the image itself, the page which uses it and the page which contains the license conditions.
  • add the relevant copyright tag.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}} to the top of the page that has been nominated for deletion (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on [[ Talk:Image:Zakstarkey.jpg|the talk page]] explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the article meets the criterion it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the article that would would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Lastly, please note that if the article does get deleted, you can contact one of these admins to request that a copy be emailed to you. Polly (Parrot) 00:37, 2 May 2008 (UTC)

Disputed fair use rationale for Image:Arthurlee.jpg}[edit]

Thank you for uploading Image:Arthurlee.jpg. However, there is a concern that the rationale provided for using this image under "fair use" may not meet the criteria required by Wikipedia:Non-free content. This can be corrected by going to the image description page and add or clarify the reason why the image qualifies for fair use. In particular, for each page the image is used on, the image must have an explanation linking to that page which explains why it needs to be used on that page. Can you please check:

  • That there is a non-free use rationale on the image's escription page for each article the image is used in.
  • That every article it is used on is linked to from its description page.

If you have any questions, please ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thank you. NOTE: once you correct this, please remove the tag from the image's page. • Article adoptions: Heather Mills will be a hot topic next month, as the truth will be referenced.
  • The hottest Project page this month has been The Quarrymen (now a GA). It reveals the most accurate history of their early days, because so many other web pages tell a completely untrue story (one web page said they lost a Carroll Levis competition to a woman who played the spoons :)

Issue of the Month

Apart from the usual vandals, there is an ongoing problem with Wikipedia editors deleting free and fair-use photos because they don't think they are of any value to articles, even though this sometimes leaves articles with no photos at all. These editors do not leave notes on talk pages, so if you see that a photo has vanished, check the talk page and the history log.

From the Editors

It's been a while, but the newsletter's back! After a short discussion on the project talk page, seemingly unanimous consensus to bring it back was reached. This issue, and subsequent ones, will probably be shorter - as we kept running out of things to say before! There's a lot to say this month, purely due to the long absence of a newsletter, but we'll keep it as brief as possible.

The great 'The/the debates' return. Just a glance at The Beatles' talk page will show you the massive amount of space this trivial issue takes up. Some editors have chosen to boycott these debates entirely, and we now have two separate entries in WP:LAME - The 'The/the debates' and the 'member order feud'. Consensus to use a capital 'T' was reached in a straw poll. Editors are reminded not to change the case of the 'T' without first changing consensus.

Disputed non-free use rationale for Image:Circus1.jpg[edit]

Thank you for uploading Image:Circus1.jpg. However, there is a concern that the rationale provided for using this image on Wikipedia may not meet the criteria required by Wikipedia:Non-free content. This can be corrected by going to the image description page and add or clarify the reason why the image qualifies under this policy. Adding and completing one of the templates available from Wikipedia:Non-free use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy. Please be aware that a non-free use rationale is not the same as an image copyright tag; descriptions for images used under the non-free content policy require both a copyright tag and a non-free use rationale.

If it is determined that the image does not qualify under the non-free content policy, it might be deleted by an administrator within a few days in accordance with our criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions, please ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thank you. Stifle (talk) 09:11, 30 December 2008 (UTC)

Orphaned non-free media (File:Captainbeefheart.jpg)[edit]

Ambox warning blue.svg Thanks for uploading File:Captainbeefheart.jpg.

Thank you. BJBot (talk) 05:04, 20 April 2009 (UTC)

Replaceable fair use Image:Crazy horse w neil young.jpg[edit]

Replaceable fair use

Thanks for uploading Image:Crazy horse w neil young.jpg.

Thank you. Aspects (talk) 22:55, 24 October 2009 (UTC)

AfD nomination of Mark Ervin[edit]

Ambox warning pn.svg

An editor has nominated one or more articles which you have created or worked on, for deletion. The nominated article is Mark Ervin. We appreciate your contributions, but the nominator doesn't believe that the article satisfies Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion and has explained why in his/her nomination (see also Wikipedia:Notability and "What Wikipedia is not").

Your opinions on whether the article meets inclusion criteria and what should be done with the article are welcome; please participate in the discussion(s) by adding your comments to Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Mark Ervin. Please be sure to sign your comments with four tildes (~~~~).

You may also edit the article during the discussion to improve it but should not remove the articles for deletion template from the top of the article; such removal will not end the deletion debate.

Please note: This is an automatic notification by a bot. I have nothing to do with this article or the deletion nomination, and can't do anything about it. --Erwin85Bot (talk) 01:11, 3 February 2010 (UTC)

Better source request for File:Buffalo springfield 2.jpg[edit]

Thanks for uploading File:Buffalo springfield 2.jpg. You provided a source, but it is difficult for other users to examine the copyright status of the image because the source is incomplete. Please consider clarifying the exact source so that the copyright status may be checked more easily. It is best to specify the exact Web page where you found the image, rather than only giving the source domain or the URL of the image file itself. Please update the image description with a URL that will be more helpful to other users in determining the copyright status.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have specified their source in a complete manner. You can find a list of files you have uploaded by following this link. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page or me at my talk page. Thank you. —Bkell (talk) 18:24, 28 October 2010 (UTC)

Orphaned non-free media (File:Marc bolan.jpg)[edit]

Ambox warning blue.svg Thanks for uploading File:Marc bolan.jpg. The media description page currently specifies that it is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, it is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the media was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that will be useful. However, please note that media for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'file' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "File" from the dropdown box. Note that all non-free media not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. Hazard-Bot (talk) 04:32, 30 March 2013 (UTC)

Sorry, it was my fault. The bot does not recognize the <noinclude> TAG and this message has been sent to all the inactive users of Wikiproject U2. Remove this section whenever you want. Sorry once again. –pjoef (talkcontribs) 14:05, 30 October 2013 (UTC)
