April 2010[edit]

Thank you for your contributions to Wikipedia. When you make a change to an article, please provide an edit summary, which you forgot to do before saving your recent edit to Vegetarianism. Doing so helps everyone to understand the intention of your edit. It is also helpful to users reading the edit history of the page. Thank you. I support the change and removal, but please remember to provide a wp:edit summary. - Sinneed 01:04, 4 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Meatpuppets[edit]

Unless I'm greatly mistaken, you've been attempting to recruit other editors of a predetermined point of view via an external website. Please be aware that this is known as meatpuppetry on Wikipedia and is considered highly inappropriate, as are all attempts to manipulate consensus. I presume you were unaware of WP policy on the subject, which is why I wanted to ensure that you were aware of the problem. Jakew (talk) 19:32, 21 July 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Hey friend,
I just read the policy; thank you for the heads up. You aren't entirely mistaken, and I was trying to attract a couple of neutral editors to join the conversation and help clean up the article.
While I can see why it would look like an attempt to manipulate consensus by bringing in editors of a known bias to sockpuppet a particular view, a careful examination will reveal that I have no interest in doing so; at any rate, such an attempt would be superficial and unlikely to effect a lasting positive change in the article.
I would like to see a few reasonable, intelligent, respectful editors of differing view take this page to task. It is cluttered with misinformation and poor writing from all sides - as can be expected of a semi-controversial article about which people have strong opinions.
Best wishes,
Abidagus (talk) 20:08, 21 July 2011 (UTC)[reply]
The inherent selection bias introduced by recruiting editors from such a place should be obvious, and consequently such attempts have the effect of skewing consensus, which is why they are frowned upon. Please understand that I'm not suggesting anything about your intent, which I can't expect to know. Jakew (talk) 20:42, 21 July 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Just a tip[edit]

It's generally best to keep each paragraph of your talk page posts at the same indentation level; this helps to make it easier to follow who is saying what. So, use the same number of colons at the start of each line of your comments, including that of your signature. Please don't take this as criticism; I'm just trying to help. You might find WP:TALK helpful for further guidance, or feel free to ask if you prefer (if you'd rather ask someone else, you can place {{helpme}} on your user talk page). Mmm, thanks. Wasn't sure what the standard was. Abidagus (talk) 20:47, 22 July 2011 (UTC)[reply]
