VFA/VFL Merger[edit]

Hi Albert. I've just stumbled upon the article for the Victorian Football Association and saw your comments on the talk page. I'm short on time and not up to speed on the topic, but I'd suggest starting a discussion at WikiProject AFL. Blarneytherinosaur gabby? 09:43, 20 April 2008 (UTC)

Champion of the Colony[edit]

Albert.

No reputable historical source published between 1856 and 1945 supports claims made about the Champion award. Atkinson's book is an unreliable source, as are the AFL Record Guides. Tom Will could not have won in 1856 - he didn't arrive back from years of schooling in England until 23rd December. Bruce didn't win in 1858 - Richmond Cricketers club never existed. And Hugh Gavin didn't win in 1903 playing with Essendon - he was in WA playing in the Goldfields competition. RossRSmith (talk) 11:47, 14 July 2009 (UTC)

I don't believe you can name any historian who has cited a single reference dated 1856 to 1945 in support of the Champion award. The Argus for that period is pretty well all loaded on the National Library newspaper site now - not one single reference to the award. Quite a few to the paper's own awards during various years, but not one to an all-encompassing "Champion" award.

Mornington Football Team Drownings[edit]

Hello Albert

I have replaced an inaccurate summary of the Mornington Football Team drowning tragedy with an accurate summary. If you are unhappy about this I suggest you delete the accurate summary and reinstate the inaccurate summary. Regards LauraineCrafts
